The 80’s still reign supreme.
Aside from Gibson and Fender who still give us the 50’s and 60’s, all other major advances in guitar style was in the 80’s. Super axes and shredders. But not much since. Only Rubato lusts after a keytar. Will this be it forever? Btw I’m perfectly fine with 50’s and 60’s and all things 80’s except the shitty gutter crap hair band garbage that was thrown at us. Love those guitars though.

Yeah I agree. I like the music too. Those players are the ones who pushed the boundaries for the innovations to happen. Can't have one without the other.

It's funny, I find myself stuck in the 90's regarding gear, but all over the place for guitars and music. The two guitars I'm working on are based on the 80's and 90's. I think my music shut off window occured in 2001 or so, but gear is pretty much timeless (though I prefer the 80's and 90's).

My preference is 70s and 90s. I'm generally not a fan of anything that sounds or looks 80s.
The little bit of 80s stuff I do like is the stuff that was popularized in the 90s.

Yeah I like a lot of 70s and 90s music too. But 80s is my favorite since that's when I got into music and playing guitar.
For gear, I like 70s guitars the most, Norlin LPs, CBS Fenders etc.. and definitely 80s/90s superstrats but guitars aside, I like gear from all decades.

Re: The 80’s still reign supreme.
I was coming of age as 80s transitioned from cool to not-cool, so I'm definitely biased.
I also grew up on a steady diet of my Mum's music, which is pretty much CCR and the soundtrack to Grease or American Grafiti.

Geeze, why were there so many rules back then?

PMRC. Thanks to Badasses like Dee Snider and John Denver for putting them in their place.
