As Much Mother of Toilet Seat As The Eye Can Stomach…

Post by andvari7 »

…All for $18,000

Good afternoon,

Most of my days involve browsing the Dave’s Guitar Shop website, for interesting used gear. There are four locations, all throughout Wisconsin, and, since I live a few minutes from one of them, buying from Dave’s is a plausible way to get some good stuff. Until you run across shit like this:

https://www.davesguitar.com/products/wa ... ototype-87

Except that it isn’t shit. Wayne Charvel made good stuff, at least until the Camp Fire, and I am seriously considering getting my custom Basslab in all mother-of-toilet-seat. The one thing, or six, that irritate me are the skull tuning buttons. For a fan of Gibson’s other products, here you go. Spend $18,000, and go to La Crosse, mostly because La Crosse is a nice place to be.

Thank you.

This guitar actually is good but it usually sells for 1200 with a normal finish. Which is better than this garbage. The notion that this awful MOP top adds $16800 to the price is obscene. If anything this should cost half of the regular version lol this seller is absolutely delusional

I wonder if he secretly likes the guitar and doesn't want anyone to buy it

I've bought from this shop before, they're usually good but this price is absolutely insane. There's almost no demand for this guitar, they're a hard sell even at their regular prices and finishes.

It's probably something he wants to keep but needs to put it "for sale" for whatever reason. No way he's serious about selling this.
Or maybe it's a consignment and the owner is the one who's delusional. Who knows.

I've had this one on my Reverb watch list for a long time

I'd definitely buy it at the right price, but even $1795 is way too much for it. (It's been sitting for 2 years).

Now $18k with the fugly top  :freak:

I’ve met Dave many times; I went to college in La Crosse for two years, so I’d go to the shop fairly regularly. I’ve seen his personal collection, which is open to the public. It is a museum of mostly 1950s and 60s Gibsons and ESPECIALLY Fenders, and a few really nice PRSeseseses. This is way out of place for that collection; my money is on an insane consignment.
