That's how I hear it.
The DSL is a bit harsh compared to the other two IMO.
im trying to critically listen now on my monitors and i think i agree. the drums to me sound way better with the tonex, the snare is fat and cutting and the cymbals sound crisp, the snare with the evh seems to lose some body and the cymbals seem to get a little lost in the extra top end. that could just be a volume thing but im thinking with a slower tempo like this the kind of darker slo thing works. the DSL just isnt doing it for me in this song, i bet isolated i would pick it over the other two but for this song i think its just too bright and chimey.

Feels great. No complaints there.
By my posts it may seem I didn't like the ToneX but that's not the case.
I think it's a great sounding/feeling modeler and the best I've tried so far. I highly recommend this, as a modeler. And the price is great too.
I don't think modeling is quite there yet but that's not about the ToneX in particular.

I knew something sounded different on the original listens.

I agree something sounds weird about the DSL. It's peaky or something that I can't put my finger on.
That said, I prefer the lead tone on the DSL track because it cuts through better.
Thanks man. The lead is the same on all 3 tracks, and it was done with the ToneX. I only re-recorded the rhythm parts. But you're not wrong, because it's interesting that the lead does sound different when placed against the different rhythm tracks. Goes to show that everything works within a context.

Oh wow, I thought you were just cranking out perfectly consistent solos
I like the DSL best. But it sounds like it needs more mids to punch through. The Tonex sounds great. I am surprised. The EVH was the least present in the mix. I wanted to like it. But it sounded like it was riding in the back seat. If that makes any sense. haha.
Yeah I agree it needs a bit more mids. When I cut the actual track I'll probably have the EVH and the DSL panned l/r. I think both amps will sound good together

I opened separate tabs so I could flip between all three easily. The Tonex sounds less lively... over compressed in comparison. However, the other day, when I listened to the Tonex clip, it sounded great on it's own... today, it doesn't sound as good. The EVH only sounds better than the DSL because it's brighter.,,, IMHO, of course.
