Found this one on reverb. Seller says the delay effect works but that it's scratchy and noisy. Also it's been modded to have an on/off switch (I'm guessing it's a bypass switch and an echo/loop switch, which might be sound on sound added to it? The seller doesn't know and I'm guessing he was just flipping it.
We talked a little about trading and that didn't go anywhere but he did reduce the price quite a bit so now it's on the way and should be here Friday
You can tell it definitely needs a good cleaning especially around that pinch roller

That's what I've always heard.
And can be accomplished by using a standard footswitch to turn off the echo. Not sure why someone would add a panel switch for that but I guess it's not surprising. We'll see what the modifications actually do when it gets here. Who knows, maybe they'll be useful
It operates about like the seller said. The delay works but it needs a good goin’ through. New tape and a very thorough ball washin’ will probably accomplish alot.
On the side of that added on switch housing it says “MEWPLEXFX LOOP MOD”. At least it’s labelled so I can find out exactly what it is, but I’m suspecting sound on sound like the EP-3 has.

MXR sells a pedal that is just the boost part. I want to try it.

So I just attempted to use an EP-3 as a boost and it doesn’t boost. It colors the sound for sure, with perhaps a bit less volume and no way to control it. It’s a great sound though, perhaps more accurately described as a fixed preamp. I just learned a little something by trying it and thought you’d be interested.
Now I gotta get the MXR Echoplex Preamp and compare it!
