OK so this is a 1982 Ibanez Studio Blazer SB-70 with Super 70 pickups with a limited run of approx 300. It combines a Studio body with a Blazer neck. Always loved the Ibanez Studio body shape.
It's a great playing guitar and the pickups are awesome but the poor refinish on it bugs me. Originally it would had a reddish color stain. Someone somewhere along the way did a partial sand job, stained it black [with the brown wood grain still coming through] and the clear coat is gummy and not smooth. It NEEDS some attention.
Since I'm considering this a keeper guitar I don't mind spending a little cash to have fun with it. Gonna sand it smooth and send it out for a quality refinish. Prolly leaning toward a solid color to hide the 5 piece body lines. Thin nitro coat regardless, with some light relicing to help match the worn hardware.
When looking at this guitar, what color is it telling you it wants to be? I have my thoughts but enjoy reading thoughts of others as well.
Daphne blue out of these options. But seafoam green above all others

How much does he usually charge for a refinish? I know it varies. But what's the ballpark estimate?

It said, “ i have cream pickups. This dark stain looks okay, but i do have a personality. I want to be navy blue. Preferably a glossy dye/stain/transparent. My five piecea show who i am. I am not a fender. I don’t need to hide behind pastel surf colors. Appreciate me for ME.”
Starr Guitars is in your neck of the woods and does a really nice thin satin nitro finish
Just looked them up. Yeah they are close. Looks like they’re not accepting any more refins unless it’s something very special. Good for them, being cery busy!
I’m in contact with Will at WR Guitars, Slagle’s buddy. We’ll see how it goes

I think he only pints guitars.

I thought alot about it and wanted blue over the pink for this guitar. And looking at google images daphne blue vs sonic blue showed plenty of images of the two colors side by side in the same photo, and considering an average of the various hues visible from photo to photo, it was pretty clear that the lighter shade was for me on this guitar
