Is loop still in sales at Sweetwater?

Post by guidedbyechoes »

The company I work for is buying PAs for 4 of our sites using sweetwater. Not looking for deals. Just trying to hook someone up with some commission.

If not I'll just get some random person and deal with them. :idk:

He hasn't been in sales in years. But I don't think he's working for SW anymore. Obviously he's the best person to answer that.

I think he's back at SW. Not in sales.

I'm sure he can refer you to a fantastic sales rep. :thu:

Thanks for thinking of me dude!!

I worked in Sales at Sweetwater from 2002-2016. After that, I moved to a marketing director position until March of 2022. I left at the end of march for a short time to work in the corporate mergers space on a big consulting project, and when that wrapped, returned to SW in Sept of '22. I'm running a division of our marketing dept now, so I'm not selling gear, but...

SW likes to keep referrals with the same salesperson when possible, so if you have a guy there you're working with now, he'd be the one to help out.

Thanks again!

Oh my second to last purchase I got no candy. I was not happy. On my most recent purchase they hooked it up with the candy. So they fixed it.

I had a non candy purchase a few weeks ago and it felt like the end of the world

But my last purchase did come with the candy so all is good in the universe again.

I just assume when I don't get candy the Customs Officers or my Freight Forwarders took it out the box when they inspect it lol.... not gonna lie.... I get kind a bummed out lol... actually, if I order any gear now and don't get candy I get kinda bummed out.... Sweetwater has spoilt me badly lol

I've had good luck with the candy... my only gripe is I have to literally bug my rep for free shipping to Hawaii. So I can't place orders at night when Im drunk and shopping lol.

No he's just not the best with communication. Only actually needed help from him once and he let me down. He doesn't follow up either anymore so it. It what it is.

I got a power supply from SW this morning. It did come with candy so that is still going. I don't eat the candy but I save them for my nephew

I am not crazy about my sales guy at SW either. Actually I am not crazy about having a dedicated salesperson at all. It's like having a friend you never asked for. I'm perfectly happy with dealing with faceless/nameless companies. Recently I noticed they are having an attitude about returns though.

My previous sales guy was super condescending about it a few months ago. I talked to a manager there and she said "we will assign you a new guy but I don't think he's wrong" which is crazy because I returned maybe 5 items in 9 years buying with them. It sucks but it's the things that happened when companies get bought out by these financial conglomerates..

I am still using them because I have a good financing account with them that gives me 0% on items but if it wasn't for that, I'd be done with SW. The sales guy calling you randomly thing is creepy, especially if they are going to be difficult when you actually need them for a return etc..

I don't often go to my sales guy unless I need some thing specific or want to see if I can get a deal. A friend of mine had a strange experience with SW a couple weeks ago, he ordered a Helix and asked them to FedEx to Trinidad directly, all was good till they told my friend they could but then he'd lose his warranty, so he gave them a forwarding address in Miami, next thing the SW sales guy told him they can't ship it to a forwarder and pretty much stopped responding to his emails. This is REALLY strange thing is I send all my shit to a forwarder, and so does EVERYONE else in Trinidad.... I told him to get in contact with another sales guy, which he did.... Helix is on the way.... not sure what the problem was but that sales dude lost a customer.

My guy would call and email. I finally told him not to contact me and if I needed anything I knew how to reach him.

yeah I do everything online. But then I get a text from the guy saying "hey thanks for the order if you need anything etc etc..." which I don't mind, but when I actually needed help with something (which is rare) he told me to contact support lol

I don't know, I just don't like it. I think it's an old school thing to have one guy handling your business but that usually happens when you go to an actual store and click with one of the sales guys there. For example, whenever I go to Atomic Music I always work with the same guy but that is my choice, because I like him and want to give him the business.

To have a rando dude assigned to deal with you and "that's your guy" is creep af.

I like how AMS does their shit. You place the order and get a confirmation. If you need to return something you place a request on the website and get a return label with the shipping costs deducted. No guy to deal with.

I actually had my previous SW guy whine that he would lose his commission and he was counting on it when I asked him to give me a return label. I get that sales is a hard gig but goddamn man WTF I'm not keeping something I don't like because you need that commission jesus f christ

Support is hit or miss too. I had a new synth give up the ghost and had to go through support. They wanted to try a new power supply before returning it.

They sent me the power supply to a radial product. It was not compatible. I still have the power supply since return shipping wasn't worth it to them.

Yeah. I've had some issues with support too.

Don't get me wrong, SW is still infinitely better than MF or GC online. And while I like AMS service, SW has a much better inventory. So I'm not giving up on them just yet. But the personal sales guy thing, I'm not a fan lol

Same. We ended up with a random person named Tom who hooked us up with a demo rack for some of our equipment. We ended up spending about 40k so far with that guy instead of my guy Kent.

We are buying more.
