Trip to Atomic Music this morning

Post by GuitarBilly »

They had a pile of amps in front of the store with a sign saying they were $100 each. Most of them where just little 10w practice amps and whatnot but I found this guy in the middle of the pile:

These amp are pretty cool. Their claim to fame is Yngwie used them in his orchestra concerts because the Marshalls were too loud and were overwhelming the orchestra ( fucking Yngwie lollol ).

This one is pretty clean and sounds great. Very nice clean channel. The OD side has a 12xa7 and sounds very much like a Marshall Valvestate, which is what I think they were trying to compete with back in the day. So it gets nice rock tones in it and it nails that 90s Valvestate thing a la Death, White Zombie, Prong etc... what it doesn't like at all is a Fender amp. Definitely more of a Marshall gybrid type of amp. For $100 I couldn't pass up on it.
Guitars:

Cabs
Marshall 1960A w V30s/ Seismic 2x12 w Redback and V30.

I wanted one of those when I was a kid just learning to play. I wouldn’t mind having one now for the novelty of it  All said most of the people I know that played them like them.

Another hybrid amp I didn't know about? I'd have jumped for a bill too.

I used to own/gig one, I loved that amp!

Also, I went to Atomic on Saturday, on my way to D.C. for a gig, what a cool little store. I've never seen that much used gear in one place. It's actually a little overwhelming.

Always heard good stuff about these

The Fender Stage 160 combo was also a pretty great SS amp from around that era IMO

The Roc-Pro was one of my first amps, I ended up giving it to my little brother and he still has it. Great little sleeper amp: nice fender cleans and two flavors of gain, one more bluesey and the other more 90's thrash. Awesome find. :thu:

I need Atomic Music to open a store near me, I'm jealous of all these deals you score there on a regular basis. Or, I need to move to Rockville. :hmm:
