Despite GAS'ing alone all my life, I have still managed to amass a lot of gear considering how little I play, my skills, and the space I have to store the stuff. So for this, thank God I've been going at it alone. I can't imagine having a buddy who GAS'ed with me and egged me on or made me jealous, etc. You guys here are as close as I get to GAS'ing peers.
I'm a high school teacher and I keep guitars and little amps for students to noodle on between classes. I guess one of these random students told a recently-hired teacher about me. This teacher showed up to my class during lunch with a Van Halen-esque Kramer w/a Floyd and a decent-sized pedal board. I was like, "Who is this guy?" Anyway, I was busy trying to put a test together for my next class, so I pulled out the Vox AC10 and my tiny Marshall MG10 and left them to jam. From what I heard, he was teaching the kids how to play parts of Eruption.
When the bell rang to end lunch, I walked over to him to start putting my gear away and took a look at his pedal board. He had this spaceship-shaped fuzz pedal that looked so COOL! I was like, "Man, I gotta have THAT!" I dunno what it sounded like, but that shit looked cool AF!
I hope this dude doesn't wake up the GAS monster in me that I've been doing a great job taming these past three months.
The pedal looked kinda like this:
