Amp Stand Builds

Post by joshatatlasstands »

I've been building amp stands out of solid hardwoods for going on three years now. Each build has a build thread that can be used as somewhat of a DIY. If you wanna DIY I'm here to help as well.

Here's the latest completion...Cherry Low Rider with Table Top completed recently.

Very cool, thanks for posting this :thu: I will probably be building a chassis stand before I build an amp stand. My problem is that I just recently moved from Va to Fl and my woodshop is still not set up and my shop floor is full of temp storage. As soon as I can get my shop back together I wil be looking into building an adjustable chassis stand. I really like the one I saw at your web site.

By all means, check out the chassis stands I've built and feel free to use whatever ideas you like. I like to put a tool tray on the front of them and have both sides slide on the sled, reversible for small chassis too.

Here's are links to some chassis stands you may like:

http://www.atlas-stands.com/index.php/f ... nd-red-oak

Good luck with the build and let me know if I can assist.

I feel you on the wood shop being full of stuff and torn apart, I have a blown bandsaw motor right now as the bearing decided to blow apart and send metal shavings all through the guts. I'm down for a week or two myself.

Thanks a bunch Josh, I really appreciate your kind help and links. :thu: I especially like the one you built for Nathan, that is the basic design I am going to try for in Walnut. Where do you order your hardware from? I like those black knobs and threaded inserts.

Bummer about your band saw going belly up. I hope the repair costs aren't too painful.

Thanks, I got the plastic knobs from amazon...1/4" 20 tpi and 2 inches long cut and grind to length. I do it different now though. I make the knobs myself out of a bolt with the head sandwiched between two pieces of wood that are glued together with epoxy. That way the knobs match the stand as well...and it's cheaper:)

One of the build threads has pics of the handmade knobs, and you can make them any shape you want.

I just had a closer look at your chassis stand (I was using my phone before) and its some impressive work. I especially like your take on how to adjust the clamp width for different chassis dimensions. I may have to build a new one now!

Thanks, it's best to let both the left and right side of the chassis stand slide left and right so you don't find yourself working in a corner:) Just my take on the gadget...most have a stationary left or right side. Having both sides moveable also allow you to reverse them for wiring guitar pedals etc.

Eureka.

ty, I'm grateful.

This is the latest off the bench. It's solid African Padauk, built to fit a 3 Monkeys Sock Monkey 1x10 Combo. Yes, that is my AC30 on it, but I won't have images until the owner gets it because I'm not fortunate enough to own a 3 Monkeys Amp…yet.

Re: Amp Stand Builds

Post by joshatatlasstands »

This is the latest completion heading for the Nashville Amp Expo in a couple of weeks.

It's a solid butternut guitar stand with my old modded late 80's Epi SG, one of my first halfway decent guitars. Great for some Sabbath.

It's made from timber that was downed right here on the property two+ years ago. We thought it was an oak tree when we saw that it was dead and needed to come down, but when we smelled it after the chain saws stopped it smelled a lot like walnut. Sure enough it was butternut, or "white walnut". It's turned out to make some very nice stands since then.

Thanks, it's pretty tacky and an Epi that's been through 100 different configurations over the years, I learned on it, how to play and how to work on an axe, but I still have it so...

Finished this walnut pedal board this week…

I made it to fit my personal pedal configuration and needs. I'll put my tuner off to the side because I'm not sure what tuner I want to settle on.

It's powered, shielded, and has an on/off switch.
