Every person is born with their own characteristics in the body, so you need a special diet suitable only for your body. Perhaps going to a nutritionist will give you the answer to your question.

I eat practically no meat (though I wouldn't really call myself vegetarian or vegan). I have been on a high-protein lifestyle for a few years because my wife got healthy and sporty. Mainstays (sorry for the lactose intolerant among you :( ):
- Eggs. We've got our own chickens, we've always got a steady supply of healthy tasty eggs.
- Whey protein powders. We've got MyProtein powders in tons of flavours, though vanilla and chocolate get the most use, often in oat-based porridge breakfasts. They are tasty, and often contain (dark) chocolate. We've tried a ton, including vegan ones, but the only ones we really like is the MP stuff.
- Nuts and seeds. Cashews, peanuts, almonds, hazelnuts, chia seeds, flax, all kinds. Great for micronutrients and a hit of good fats.
- High protein bread. Our local "farmers union" sells a high-protein bread mix that makes a lovely bread. Smells a bit weird when dough (like pea protein I guess) but tastes great when baked.
- High protein yoghurts. Nothing fancy, just greek style. Works well in a lot of stuff.
- Fungi-based stuff, like plain old mushrooms of various types, and quorn meat-replacements. It needs a lot of dressing up because it has no taste worth eating on its own, but good in ragout sauces, or as "chicken pieces" in a curry dish or a sandwich.

There's a lot to it (and my wife's a trained nutritionist now), but I don't work out that much, and have still toned up and gained in strength A LOT in the past two years. As in, now ripping out a cast-iron bath by myself without throwing my back out.
