I laughed for 20 straight minutes just howling when that guy teabagged other dude...I've done that so many times in COD and never seen it done in real life. Was a good movie but that scene sent it over the top for me.

That one had me laughing. The other was the motorcycle slide.

"Did that look cool? 'Cause it felt like it looked cool."

Or the dumbass grin he had when he was watching her kick ass. Ryan Reynolds is the perfect combo of "don't care what I look like" and "anything for a laugh" along with action abilities.

I loved that movie!
But I don't remember a teabagging scene at all....
can you give me the minute mark?
thanks!

I don't have a minute mark, but it wasn't a front-and-center thing. It was sorta side/background as something else had the main focus. I do remember he was wearing all black, smashed somebody down, then started teabagging him. Wife cracked up at that one.

We need to watch that. I always dig Reynolds but sometimes I wish he would try a different schtick once in a great while. Jodie Comer (gal from Killing Eve) does great in it from what I have seen as well.

Midnight. S. Korean flick and pretty darn good. Serial killer gets caught midstream in nabbing his next victim by a deaf girl and her deaf mother. Some moments spent yelling at the screen in frustration but overall; great thriller.

A send-up of modern dating that deep-dives into the realm of cannibalism. It's pretty sick at parts, but somehow super irreverent at the same time. Like, the dude doing the cutting for others to eat has a LOT going against him, and one of the funniest lines of the movie is from some folks who manage to escape him.

"YOU MEAN HE'S MARRIED?!" - like that's the worst thing to find out about your cannibal abducter.

Not a bad movie, and goofy as shit it some places. Still wouldn't sit well with some folks due to the subject.

Rewatched Free Guy. God damn if that movie isn't fun. Probably the most fun take on AI I've ever seen.

Fresh was great. Hulu has been stepping up their movie game. Sebastian Stan is slick in this one. Dug it.

THE BATMAN (2022) 5/10, not compared to any other Batman
THE BATMAN (2022) 1/10, compared to the Nolan/Dark Knight trilogy.

Veryyyyyyyyyyyy disappointing!
Reminded me of the shitty Batmans of the early '90's

Even the Batmobile and the Batmotorcycle sucked.

Windfall was alright. Kind of a slow burn with a fairly minimal payoff, but it was decent

I have one movie left in Lars von Trier’s depression trilogy. So far, these are my thoughts:

Antichrist - 8/10 Not for the faint of heart. Brutal violence and brutal emotionally.

Melancholia - 7/10. Great acting, great portrayals of how humans deal with shit.

Nymphomaniac Vol 1 - 6/10 i was hoping for more from this one, but it kinda fell flat.

Nymphomaniac Vol 2 - ? Watching this weekend. Looks like things will ramp up considerably from the first volume.

Northman. Um; 6.5-7/10? Skaarsgaard(sp?) was awesome. Like a lankier, roided out Jim Carrey if he was playing a viking and doing it like a boss. I know he's been in tons of stuff but he never displays any sort of personality (that I can ever remember) so this was a nice change of pace.

The bad? I hate Nicole Kidman. Ethan Hawke is starting to get weird in his old age too. The director's excellent visual style and eye is matched with his weird attachment to the way he handles dialog and situations/scenes. He needs someone to help with the editing process and get him to notice some of the performances were wayyyyyyy too offputting in a way that shifts the tone of the film into the :freak: category. There's a scene in this movie where they are drinking out of dog bowls and howling and it's fucking stupid to watch. Dafoe continues to be an excellent actor but he is borderline in that same boat here as well as the Lighthouse. Which I could never bring myself to finish. Maybe I need to?

My own whatever issues with the film aside; I liked it quite a bit. Definitely my favorite out the films he's directed so far. I'll be interested to see what he does next.

The Northman
I’ll give it an 8/10

I really loved it and was pretty much “in it” from the very start. I kinda embraced all the animal wolf/bear howling stuff throughout the film, but if I saw the cringe in it I could see how it would totally take me out of the film, so maybe I lucked out. When I saw The Lighthouse I was on the edge of my seat the whole time in the theater, but I could never really get into it again on repeat viewings.

I agree with what you said about Kidman’s part, but I think she’s such a phenomenal actor that I wonder if it was the screenplay itself that led to some jarring changes in tone. There might have been a lot of extra scenes that they cut in order to keep the film fast paced.

I loved the visuals, especially the ones that showed all his ancestors, that stuff really gets to me. Overall this was just a badass fucking movie with some manly shit and I felt like my testosterone levels went through the roof lol
