Dexter still good. Not remarkable but good in a "thank god for no colin hanks" sort of way

American Rust: Mare of Eastown starter kit. Without good writing, likeable characters or any acting skill. Pretty lame.

Started Yellowjackets on Showtime. Despite it getting called a riff on Lost; it's actually pretty good so far. Mainly because Ricci and Lewis. We'll see how it goes.

Gave Yellowjackets a try based on your rec. Only thing I hate is that it just started and I could only watch 3 episodes. Motherfucker.

Nice. Agreed on your "Only 3?" irritant. I will say it could go down in flames, just like Lost; depending on how they roll with it. But I like the concept enough so far that I will give it some time to see where they get with it.

In its defense, Lost created 73 episodes before it jumped the shark. Not arguing, I get your point. I wish I could get back the 49 hours that I spent watching the last 3 seasons of Lost.

Lost jumped the shark at the end of episode one.

To be fair, the wife and I had just finished Alias and were not prepared to deal with another JJ Abrams inspired shit-fest where everything happens at the end of the episode and then you come to the next episode and all the cliffhangery bullshit ends up being nothing. So that roar at the end of episode 1 made both of us say, "Nope. Out."

Seasons later when all the people watching the show started bitching about it non-stop we got to point and laugh.

JJ Abrams is the turd in the punch bowl of my favorite scifi.

Also the mystery box, cliffhanger at the end of an ep that isn't anything has infected and ruined a lot of good TV shows.

I watched all of Season 1 right before the Season 2 premiere. If you didn't stick around for the "hatch," then you didn't watch Lost.

Speaking of Jeremy Renner; started Mayor of Kingstown last night. Watched a few episodes and it is solid. I am sort of just about overloaded on "gritty" family police drama thing. Renner is good enough to keep me watching for now.

Fuck me, It's Always Sunny's new season is god damn KILLING IT right out of the gate. The gang taking responsibility for literally every part of the shit-show that was 2020 is possibly the most hilarious episode they've ever done.

If they don't address Mac's fucked up tan at some point this season I'm gonna be very disappointed.

First episode was good. Second one was not so much. I think they need to address Dee's weird plastic surgery more than anything else.

Mayor of Kingstown is really good. Pretty standard style cop show fare but Renner and the cast do good work with it.

I'm beginning the internal debate about whether I can tolerate anymore of the new Walker even while drunk and stoned. While his daughter is right on the cusp of being legit hot, most of the storylines are so stupidly idiotic that it's tough to watch sometimes. The kids are complete fucktards 99.99% of the time and retain lessons they learn about as well as the Goldberg's kids and parents. Meanwhile, this whole softer, family focused, more modern take on the Walker legacy is just sorta blah, milquetoast meh now that they've dealt with the dead wife issue. And while they create false drama all over the place through undercover bullshit that gets confused for real, that's not really enough to drive a story.

If not for Micky's character struggles being sorta believable, and me liking that actress plenty, I'd have given up already.

Come on, writers. Give us some fucking action already.

Meanwhile, Legacies has turned into something resembling an acid trip where after you can't decide if it was a really, really good one, or a horrible one that you blacked out through and convinced yourself was good. Dark Hope is bast. Dark Jo / Dark Hope was pretty cool. Bring back the soccer playing pandas! That's probably the best writing any of the Vampire Diaries / Originals / Legacies story ever had. Literally having them go full-blown fourth wall fairy tail hopping was hilarious.

I usually dig Padalecki and his wife, and the first season had both of them with a heavy focus on their relationship. The mystery surrounding her death was pretty compelling. And grandpa from Supernatural was playing Padalecki's dad, which was also a fun tag-along.

Once the wife plot was resolved it's been a pretty steady downhill slide.

One of the girls at work is constantly talking about Yellowstone and how hot one of the dudes is on there. Swear to crap I expect to find a puddle under her chair every time she starts talking about it. It's pretty graphic. So graphic I'm not sure I'll ever be able to bring myself to watch the show.

It's not a show I would ever imagine enjoying but here we are, nonetheless

Playing catch up on The Last OG on HBO. We'd seen the first 2 seasons but not 3. Excellent sitcom. Tracy Morgan (and really the rest of the cast) is perfect. Great light hearted show that's a hilarious quick little watch.

OMG! Big Mouth's Christmas Special?! WTF?

"By the end of this episode, you will see Santa's dick."

Holy fuck. The elves discovering sex was so brutally unclassy funny I was practically dying laughing. "Yeah, you like to watch. Don't ya, ya sick fuck!"

Good lord.

I need to watch Big Mouth. I’ve heard it’s hysterically funny.

Finally starting dexter new blood. Not bad, only 1.5 episodes in so far. I had forgotten how much I hated season 8 of dexter. 6 was a bit of a drag as well

I've been digging it. I think my bar on this is fairly low. I don't necessarily care though, as it has been very solid so far. These last few episodes have ended with some cliffhanger without being an actual cliffhanger stuff :cop: Just enough to keep your interest but not enough to p!ss you off

Finished up Vikings. Not exactly what I was expecting, but how do they "end" a story like that anyway? Still enjoyed it. Getting to hear a certain someone's laugh one last time made it all worth the journey in and of itself.

Wheel of Time is getting pretty good, even if I don't like some of the decisions they made with the main characters. Why must everybody in TV shows be despicable pieces of shit? Even the heroes? Still, interesting special effects and a compelling plot are keeping my interest so far.

Started Station Eleven too. Interesting set up in the first three episodes. I can't wait to see more of what the story is in the book she packs around with her. Gimme more of the sci-fi, less of the dystopia.

We went up to like S5(?) halfway where Ragnar's kid and someone else I can't quite remember now were stuck somewhere in the middle east. Ragnar leaving was probably one of the best-yet-worst losses I have seen in a some in really forever. Tough shoes with no one to fill them. I would like to finish it up someday if I could muster the season and a half(?) we have left?

There's some seriously crazy level shit going down once Ragnar is gone. Fucking Iver is nuttier than a fruitcake, and the other brother, can't remember the name, goes way off the deep end too at one point.

I did dig some of the character conclusions they had. God damn Iver's big fight scene was beautifully orchestrated. Some of the most brutal battles happen. And while I was hoping for one more blood eagle level scene, they tease us with one and then the dude's too much of a pussy to do it. Which gave me sads.
