It's a black comedy about a handful of guests (and hotel employees) staying for a week at a 5-star hotel in Hawaii. It starts out by letting you know that someone died. The tension between various people keeps building throughout.

White Lotus was great. Didn't figure Ned Schneebly would take something in this direction. Good stuff indeed. Great cast, great quirks, great storylines.

Finished up Stanley Tucci Searches for Italy (?) on HBO. Excellent quick watch of Tucci walking around, eating delicious looking food in Italy. Made me want to travel.

Still watching Reservation Dogs. EXCELLENT show. Great sense of heart and humor.

Started The Morning Show. Which for all intents and purposes I should loathe but actually really like.

Wife discovered Disney Magic Cake Bake Off. Kids compete baking and decorating themed cakes. First and foremost, the fact that kids are baking like that is incredible. Second, the show is fun to watch. It’s kinda mindless but whatever, it’s decent feel good stuff and the cakes look delicious.

We caught Mr Chef Jr a few times and that was solid too. It’s crazy seeing Gordon Ramsey being more of a mentor to the kids vs how he screams at adults.

Finished Expanse Season 5. It's still very enjoyable, but felt like a bit of a setup season. Seeds planted about the whatevers in the ring "waking up" clear at the beginning and nothing more about it until the end of the season. The whole Marco / Naomi / Kid situation is just meh and whatever. Though I did like the mars stealth shattered rocks thing and how that played out.

Candidate for best small-run character of the series? "Tiny," the prisoner that helped them climb the elevator shaft. "FUCK YOU, GOD! YOU MISSED AGAIN!" That dude was fucking hilarious.

The Outpost is really smashing the kill button this season. Not that some aren't deserving of a shit death. Queen bitchtits comes to mind. :hmm:

Kill Jenzo and we'll have a problem. Him and Mundt are the heart of the show. OK, I know, Talon's the heart of the show, but without those two it'd get awful old just having her pout and mope around the place.

Forgot that we were watching Only Murders in the Building on Hulu with Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez. Martin Short is really a national treasure. He kind of comes and goes as far as being in things and has been on a streak for a bit and I am glad. Hilarious by just being what seems to be a version of himself. It's also good to see Steve Martin in something that reminds you he can be good, no matter what Cheaper by the Quadrillion and that horrible movie with Queen Latifah would suggest. Not edgy or anything; but good stuff.

I've been curious about Only Murders but haven't tried talking the wife into it yet.

We're five episodes in on The Boys. Gawd damn that show. It truly nails the corruption and ego driven mania that somebody could get up to if super powers were real. The organization they have with all the bullshit and attempts to increase power taking precedent over actually trying to do good is like holding up a mirror to society. Homelander is a MASSIVE dickhole. A-Train seems like a spazzed out coke addict about 90% of the time. Can't think of the chick hero's name, the one with the leather and metal suit and darker hair, but she seems like she sorta/kinda has a heart and gets shoved through the ringer constantly by Homelander. Starlight seems to be completely out of her element. Hughie manning up and telling dad he's sick of sitting on the couch staring at the TV every night like we're already dead made me want to give him a standing ovation.

So many great one liners. Just an all around fantastic show. Don't watch it with the kids though. Yikes it's filthy.

It's a little fluffy but the charm and chemistry between the actors is enough to sell it, imo.

The Boys S1 is great. Tried S2 and could not get into it. Too politicized in a time when I needed NONE of that garbage in my entertainment. Dennis Quaid's kid bugs me for some reason but he does a good job in it, nonetheless. Karl Urban is always awesome.

Started only murders last night, not bad

season 2 of wu tang is up

latest season of AHS seems dull so far, but that show has essentially just been self felating for the last 9 seasons now

9 perfect strangers has been pretty good

I am looking forward to Wu Tang. I don't like the guy that plays ODB at all. In all fairness; dude was a character and nailing those kinds of mannerisms would be very difficult.

We always pop in on AHS. Even though we know better  9 Perfect Strangers has Nicole Kidman, iirc? Not big on anything she is in for whatever reason. But the previews looked interesting.

The Boys S2 was great. Karl Urban’s Butcher is fantastic. I get where JT was coming from though. I can’t wait til season 3. Jensen Ackles is supposed to be in it as Soldier Boy - their WW2 Super Soldier archetype character.

Jensen joining the team is the entire reason my wife was on board with watching it. When Supernatural ended she started going through withdrawals. So we had to rewatch the entire series before jumping into the Expanse's latest season and the Boys.

It does have Kidman, and she does a really terrible Russian accent for her character  but otherwise I've been enjoying it

We need to start Boardwalk back up. Started it and we did like it; but kind of fell off for no real reason. I LOVE Buscemi and he did great in what we watched but sort of a weird role for him. Ugly Leonardo lookalike dude in it drove me nuts so that made it easy to give up on. Lovecraft was great in spots. Not sure if I liked the finish but it had some great moments.

Boardwalk went pretty potato late in the game, but was an enjoyable enough watch. Lovecraft Country had enough little sprinklings of so many genres it was impossible to not enjoy it unless you just enjoy being angry for no reason.

Finished Season 1 of The Boys. Butcher's reaction to the big shocking "OMYGAWD" season finale thing that I predicted a couple episodes prior was satisfying enough. Homelander Homelandered as Homelander does. Not at all surprised what he did in the hostage situation. How do you create a sociopath from a baby? Gee, I wonder why he's a sociopath?

Deep's going through his Brittney moment. Starlight's turn was pretty awesome. A-Train's big moment was LOL. Frenchie's "Never has a man thrown his life away so recklessly" speech was hilarious. Just lots and lots of awesome all around.

I'm looking forward to getting into season 2. So much happened in 8 episodes. It'd be nice if more shows realized you don't need to have five exposition scenes for every moment something actually happens. It seems like even the small scenes have weight and consequences. Quality TV right there.

Watching Prodigal Son on HBO. Ok ripoff of random serial killer involved in the investigation with more than a pinch of Hannibal starter kit. It's ok. I like seeing Jesus in other things and his dad is fairly underutilized as an actor.

Did a quick watchthrough of Mapleworth Murders. It's from Quibi(?) or that service that died in like 2 weeks that had a bunch of 7 minute episodic series on it? It's on the Roku channel now. Hilarious. Secretary gal from AP BIO (kind of Melissa Macarthy if she was still in "funny" phase) does a Murder She Wrote thing with a bunch of KILLER guest actors. Seriously. Sounds kind of corny but I crapped my pants laughing at the stupid thing. Quick watch with a ton of laughs.
