..... For recording acoustic guitars. What's out there?
I have a old MXL 57 that does alright. Just curious if there is anything worth checking out for short money?

oh-- also the AT pro37 is a perennial fave- and the akg perceptions aren't bad!

Rode makes good, fairly inexpensive mics. Although, I don't have an acoustic guitar, I like my Rode NT1A.
For $230, you get the mic, shock mount and pop filter.

cad m179 for sure- but you should use your fathead! an mxl v67 is another solid cheapie- less flexible, but its a good one to cut the clank- and makes for a solid vocal mic as well. stupid good for just over a hunnet. id avoid cheap sdcs to be honest- i seldom pick one up and think 'oh yeah... that sounds GREAT' .. i usually end up sweeping up my own tooth enamel. have heard a coupla good things about rode nt5s, though, and the usual suspects oktava 012s for sdcs.. my ol' standby is still an akg 451 and have gotten ok service with c1000s, which have aged a lot better than the new cheapie sdcs.

what price range are you looking at?
I've been on the hunt for a decent large diaphragm condenser myself for vocals and acoustic guitar, seems like the $120 - $200 range has some decent options

CAD CM217 . I have 2 of these that came with my drum mic kit.
On a whim I tried them on AC guitar. They sound pretty kick a$$.
I aim one at the end of the neck and one at the bridge.
