Good article. You know, for years I was afraid to share my music with anyone. I've always written pretty good shit even when I was far less skilled. I was reluctant to play a televised art gallery once where I was showcasing a couple original songs while using the art club's house musicians, but I did. It was on my local cable access channels but it was seen by lots of people in my home town. I got stopped at random places and given props.

Anyway, I try to remember those random props I got after playing that art gallery... after putting myself out there. To this day I'm still afraid of someone running off with my music. None of it has been recorded on a quality level... but when it is you can bet your ass I'll be at libraryofcongress.org/copyrights (i think that's the site) and making my shit legit.

Yeah, I have the same paranoia. I won't put anything out on the internet unless I know its copyright protected.

What bullshit - did that guy ever get any money from the proceeds from the asshole posting his stuff?

I think he said that he got a portion from one website, but he never got the vast majority of the rest.
