So, my band hit the studio yesterday to record a four song EP. We actually tracked everything in 9.5 hours, leaving the engineer to do some cleanup of stray noises and comping of vocal tracks before we get back together in two weeks to mix down. Pics follow:

Cookin' with glass! 70s Ampeg flip-top bass amp and my trusty Mark III.


Jason with the newest and coolest of his three G&L basses, and Monica with her...drums of some sort. I don't know brands. Preparing for groovage.


Me, in all my limited glory. On the floor is the pedalboard I built a few weeks ago, in the background is my Tele.


This looks as if I'm belting out something mean, but I'm actually singing a soft high harmony part at the absolute top of my range.

I'll post the tracks once they're done! I'm really happy with the sounds we've been getting.

Hardwood. It's a converted dance studio. Drums sounded amazing in there right off the mics, without any EQing or reverb.

Thanks! And yeah, I love that little Ampeg. With the low power (for a bass rig) and the big 15" speaker in a box full of batting, it makes for really big, round, midrangey notes with a little grit to them. In the interest of a little more clarity, the engineer took a direct signal from Jason's bass, ran it through an SVT model plug-in, and ended up mixing about 30% of that to 70% miced amp. Sounds really good.

It wasn't paint! The planks were individually stained; you could see the wood grain through them. It was cool looking, close up.
