New Map Day!!!! Also, Thanks Billy!!!
Just got my DSL40C from Sweetwater yesterday. As always, the service was stellar, shipping was fast and there was candy in the box. I got to play it for a few minutes last night, but with my downstairs neighbor home, I couldn't properly rape my ears. Sounds sweet and proper like a Marshall should. The clean/Green channel is boner-inducing. The Red channel sounds good. But kind of funky. Once the honeymoon is over, I'll be clipping the diode or cap or whatever it is. As people have already started doing that mod to these new versions. Neighbor lady is at work today and the amp is heating up as I type this.
Also, thanks a ton Billy. HCAF, it appears, has finally and sadly been fuxored for good.

Re: New Map Day!!!! Also, Thanks Billy!!!
Very cool Paul. I am really impressed with the new DSL series. I know it's made in Asia blah blah, but it's a really good sounding amp. I have the original 100w DSL because I got a killer deal on an used one ($500 in mint condition) but I would have no issues playing the new one. I am actually thinking of getting a 15w DSL combo in the future as a grab-and-go amp for jams, open mics etc... at the moment I am using an AVT50 for that purpose and it's a decent amp but the DSL 15 would be a huge improvement over it.

Whoa what is that sweet cab it's sitting on?
I love combo amps, always have, but love Marshalls too. If I hadn't found my Jube combo a couple months back I'd be playing the dsl40c for sure.
Congrats bro!

Thanks guys!!!
As far as this particular combo goes, it's hardly a grab and go amp. If you tried that, you'd leave one of your nuts on the floor. It's definitely a bit of a pig.
Chuck, the cabinet is a 1965A 4/10. With Celestion Greenbacks, I think. It's been a couple of years since I had the back open.
So far, it's sounding fucking killer.

Yup. My favorites, L90s'. 4H in the neck, 6H in the bridge. Popped them in last week and knew as soon as I plugged in that I had made a wise choice.

I've been a L500XL fanboy forever. How do they compare? Are they a little mellowed out? I'm looking for something for my downtuned stuff, which isn't the best with super high output pups.

I've never owned L500s. I will very soon though. As I am going to stock up on Bills pickups while he is still around to run the show. I need a set of 500s' and one of each of his single. I have two sets of L45s', which are simply stellar if you need some single coils.
As for the L90s', they are described as being similar to the L500s' but voice in a sweeter, more vintage way. Compared to the clips I have heard of the L500s', I'd agree. I'm not into the more modern gain sound. So the L90s' do everything I want and need them to. But, don't let that fool you. They can seriously bring the heavy. Along with being a true, full-sized humbucker. So they split fantastically. I recommend them every time someone asks for suggestions. But no one ever listens. For $60 a piece, it's almost a two for one compared to other manufacturers.
I really, really love these pickups.

My ears are fucking ringing so hard right now.
So far, Les Paul>Keeley Time Machine Boost>Rat>DSL Green Channel=Pure Sonic Sex.
I just tried to capture some clips, but I suck at recording anything and still haven't figured out how to convert to MP3 and upload to Soundcloud.
Innawebbs fail, I know.

Yeah, it is. It was given to me, along with a JCM 2204 by a close friend who was getting out of music and starting a family.
The amp just barely sticks over the edge of the cabinet. It's escaping my OCD by like a 16th of a inch.

I had a 1966B 2x12. My OCD drove me nuts BC full size heads were too wide for it.
Wished I still had it when I owned my Orange AD30TC (wish I still had that too)
