MSRP

why are they so inflated? gibson LPJ for example: MSRP: $1099. List on MF: $699 which means probably $599 afte coupons and shit. so why almost double for MSRP?

So that you think you're getting a good deal paying half MSRP. It's similar to the way everything is priced. $699 is basically $700. But seeing that 6 in front just seems makes a huge impact on how you perceive the price.

That's exactly it. MSRP means absolutely nothing to me, and I don't even notice it anymore.

i mean ive known all this for a while, i just sort of wondered how it got that way.

like back in the 60s one day did MSRPs all of a sudden get posted and people were like "WTF!?"

MSRP is what the manufacturers suggest to all distributors globally. Here in the US and Canada you usually pay a lot less, because of the huge volume of MI sales compared to the rest of the world, but in just about any other country you will actually pay MSRP or close to it.
