1st recording using logic

So it has taken some time to build up the gear but I finally got round to recording something the other day. The track is only about 48 seconds long, and was recorded in very little time. It isn't mixed greatly (it was rushed! so I could get it up), so I'd like some constructive critisism.

I used a Custom Jaguar straight into my Akai EIE Pro and used Logic amps to try and replicate my Laney (my SM57 was elsewhere at the time). The drums are a drum loop found on Logic PRO. The guitar guitars you hear at the start (panned 8 o'clock and 2:30) are playing two different riffs that sound similar - it almost worked how I wanted haha.

:thu: Sounds better than my first couple Logic recordings. It'll sound a lot better when you mic up a real amp. One thing Logic's amps aren't good at is the high gain deal. The cleans are sometimes pretty good.

It's a matter of opinion, but I tend to pan hard in metal mixes because it opens up the sound a bit. Things can get congested if you have too much taking up space in the middle. But, if you start layering, you're probaly gonna have some hard pans and some a little back off hard left/right.

I'm on earbuds at the moment so can't really tell if everything's properly balanced. I'll try and give it a listen on the monitors at home when I get a chance. Sounds good through the buds though.

Thanks dude! Let me know what you think after you've tried it on the monitors.

I'm currently working on an acoustic piece. I'm thinking about not using drum loops on this one. Recording with my MXL condensor mic. I have to say, I'm loving my Mahogany Taylor at the moment!

For those of you that didn't see my other track, here's Funkwunk:

Funkywunk - Everything is my Jag except the drum loops and the alien sound at the end. No bass though... And the effects are deliberately over the top. This was done in a rush today in an hour or so:
