Yay! I'm getting a Telecaster :D
From what I read, it is pretty decent, and a nice platform for modding. I'm stoked, this is my first Telecaster. I guess it is only proper, having turned 40 and all. (I haven't sold the 7-string or the Engl Preamp, though)

Classic Vibe 50's tele?

I demoed one through a Bogner Metropolis and it was better than decent - it was a FANTASTIC guitar. Every bit as nice as my MIM tele (which is one of the best MiM's i've personally played). The trans white finish is gorgeous, too.

Apparently some people don't like the thin, poly-coated neck, but I loved it personally.

Yeah, it's the white, like this one:

I've played "shredder" necks all of my life, so I think I'll be fine with the thin neck. I can always take a polishing nylon pad, or some fine steel wool, and make it a little more satin-y in feel :) It sounds like I have something to look forward to :D

Congrats man! I have one and I love it.

The finish on the neck might feel weird at first (it did to me) but after playing it a bit I not only got used to it, I really really like it.

Nice! Is this your first Tele? If so, be prepared to fall in love with Telecasters!!! For years I overlooked this guitar because of the stigma that I had given them. Then when I finally saw the light, I fell hard! Telecasters are almost the perfect guitar [I hate having to pull the bridge to put a new bridge pickup in ].

I'm thinking that I don't give a rat's ass about resale value, so if the neck finish bugs me too much, I'll take an abrasive nylon pad, and go to town :D The guitar is cheap enough to mod/mess around with, but it has a comfortable weight, and nice sustain, and is a damn nice platform for any bad/good idea I might get with pickups, pickguards, tuners, bridges etc... :D

Yes, it is my first Tele, and I really like it so far. (I've only played it unplugged, but it has a nice acoustic sound. Maybe a little thin, but that is more in "feel" than is sound. I bet that is because of the 009 strings they are shipped with)

I'm at my GF's house this week, but when I get home, I'm going to put on a set of 010s or 011s, and see what difference it makes. I also looked at the Babicz bridge you have on yours, but the only retailer I found in Norway only have them in black and gold. The only other guitar I have with single coils is a Danelectro '63, and I find that I actually like the sound of single coils now. I've been playing with humbuckers in the bridge for 20 years :D

Tell me about it, what a fuckin pain in the ass!! I installed a set of Dimarzio Twang Kings in my tele last weekend, and I'd kinda like to go back in and stuff some foam under the bridge pickup but I'll be damned if I'm gonna pull the saddles off and go through all that crap again [-X

If you are wanting the Babicz bridge in chrome I could help you out with that... I could get a chrome version for you and I could ship it to you... I don't know what shipping would be like to Norway, but we could arrange something. Just let me know!

I am glad you're enjoying it! Welcome to awesome!

here is mine:
Image
The few upgrades I did were just for fun because it was great stock.

Bgpups rockwind bridge and vintage p90

Wilkinson compensated bridge

Wilkinson ezlock tuners....which feel cheapish to me but make string changes ez.

500k pots and thats about it.

My only gripe is how thin the neck is but most people probably prefer that.

That looks cool! I've never had the pickguard off mine...is there space for a P90 in the neck or did you route out for it? Better question, is there room for a 'bucker at the neck without routing? :D

Sharp looking guitar dude!

Very cool offer, Cole :)
It's not too big, so I guess shipping wouldn't kill me :) I'll contact you if I decide to go for it :-bd

Nice!
Did you paint it yourself? Looks cool with the racing stripe :) The neck is quite thin, but then again I'm used to thin necks, coming from mostly shred-type guitars. The cool thing with these are that if I should ever decide that I want a baseball bat neck, I'll just order one from Warmoth, and slap it right in :)

Thanks guys. Yes I painted it. Wasn't too hard until the very last clear coat I tried something different and ended up having to start over. . It is routed for a humbuckers if I remember correctly. I didn't change anything I just dropped it right on in there.

I was wondering abut getting a new neck. I was worried a different neck would throw the action off beyond repair. Has anyone tried this?

That sounds good to me. I really love that bridge! The ability to lock in your intonation is great, but those ecams they use are super smooth and have quite a decent amount of range in the string height.

Just let me know if you want it. When I got mine I got a great deal on it on Amazon.com. I got it for $60 shipped to me. So I would recommend looking at Amazon.com too.

The shop cocked up, and sent me the butterscotch blonde, but I thought it looked fine, and didn't want the hassle of repacking. They had sold out the White/Blonde before they could send it to me.

I tweaked the neck a little, it had too much relief to my liking, and now it play like butter. the fretwork on these "reasonably priced axes" is very very nice! No sharp ends, and no dead spots. Chords have wonderful sustain, and it feels in general like a much more expensive guitar. I'm going to give it a go trough my amps today, and hear how the original pickups sound. There are loads of aftermarket PUs, so if the pickups are the weak point, I'll manage :D

If you decide to change pups look at the stuff from Wilde. They are amazing! Glad to hear you are digging it!

I put a set of BL Keystones in mine. Much better sounding pups

Congrats! I'd leave those pups in for a while at least and see what you can coax out of them. I had a blonde CV Tele for a while and loved the pickups it had.

Yeah, no rush. I tried it yesterday, and they sounded fine. I've been giving the BL/Wilde Keystones a long and good look. I noticed in an old post somewhere that you use them, Pepi. They're also VERY reasonably priced.

-Squier
-Acme prewired Tele harness (potmeters, switch, output jack, all good quality)
-Keystones

=Win, at a very nice price.

Thanks, man :)
I did a little setup on it this afternoon, and put on 010-strings. Now it really sounds good. Heck, I even played metal on in, but the single coils were very noisy :D
