NAD Synergy Uberschall

My SYN-1 and Uberschall module finally came in. Holy fuck this thing sounds great!! Made a few DI clips with various IRs and a couple of quick videos. I will mic it up through the Mesa at some point, but in the mean time, here are a bunch of clips with those Metallica IRs, my main IR that I use in the Mesa, and the built in cab sim.

I am teetering on the edge of the Synergy module rabbit hole, and I am pretty sure I will be diving in head first haha. This first taste really blew me away.

Cab sim: https://app.box.com/s/gslwx1x3b3ik8yi0p3qr3h7tbawm5ogz
Mirror IR: https://app.box.com/s/gnnm3fetd0jsqfnyomya0bzqbyltn7te
Black IR: https://app.box.com/s/qd9zijjfcdsky2w9owh9e0sybp4u6q93
Harvester IR: https://app.box.com/s/lp1eusotoaamddyhpm7ew0p6q86mw21d
Puppets IR: https://app.box.com/s/k8p7wr22ke04cxv8w56heispefw27grb

Through the Mesa power section.

Through an ISP Stealth Ultra-Lite power amp.

Sounds absofuckinglutely killer Man!
I really like the Mirror IR personally, but they all sound great.

The Uber is one of my favorite modules, to me it sounds better than the amp by far

Thanks dude! I super dig it so far! Funny, Bill said the exact same thing to me, which is what pushed me over the edge.

Try the Cathode switch on the module too... It definitely makes a difference and some folks never
mess with it.

That Uber module sounds bad ass. That one is a possibility for me down the road I think.

Sounds great! Still need to try the Uber mod. From what I have tried so far, I could get along just fine with the SLO, Vai, and Deliverance modules. The Vai because of the extra versatility having the clean channel, the SLO is hands down my favorite, and the Deliverance is versatile with just enough of a different voice from the SLO. Still keeping the 6505 too though.

It does sound really good, but then you switched over to the Mrak and I liked it significantly more

Goddamn that Mrak sounds bad ass!

That sounds great to me also! I assume the feel is there also.

Looks like I am going to go down the rabbit hole also, lol.

Dammit. I've been wanting the Uber mod so badly. It's the last thing I need right now. I should get a SYN2 before I get any more modules.

Yeah the feel is definitely there. Feels awesome to play. I absolutely fucking love it!! It sounds incredible. And it’s a different flavor from the Mesa without too much money. But the ground loop thing is pretty annoying. It’s even worse with the peters. So I’m definitely gonna need to get either a power amp or maybe the 30 watt head. It’s about the same size as the Mesa, so I’m kinda leaning toward that. But it sounds so ridiculous through the Mesa power section that I have been thinking….what if I get a Mesa 290 lol.

No doubt the Mesa is a different level of amp haha.

Anyway, not sure what I will end up going with. For now, the isp is really good. Though it does impart some of that SS sound to it, which while cool is not what I’m after.

Try to cut the ground off of one of the cables. Maybe the one going into the head's fx return.

These have a ground lift button in back. Try this first.

Congrats!! Sounds fucking awesome, I think I like it better through the ISP than the Mesa…

I agree with Dave tho, definitely think the Mark VII is hard to beat!! But both sound amazing

I could see them complimenting each other well blended together

Yeah I tried the ground lift button. No change. Gonna try a ground lift on a cable and see what that does.

Looks like removing a ground from one of the cables solved the excessive noise. Now it's just regular high gain noise lol.

Cole is actually sending me a female to male quarter inch adapter to plug one of my FX loop cables into. Why an adapter you ask? Cause I ain’t breaking the ground on a cable in my new loom gat damn it.

I have so many random cables from Hosa and Planet Waves that I don't mind doing it to one of them. But it definitely makes it less important to grab another power option, now. We'll see lol.

Assuming you're talking about a multi-channel cable loom, I like to connect the loom to a junction box. Not only it makes the layout cleaner, since all channels come out of the same place, but it also make it easy to do ground lifts on the patch cables going to the pedals, without touching the loom.

This my current board:

The box labeled "RSI" is my junction box and the loom plugs in there. Then I have patch cables going to the pedals. (RSI is Return, Send, Input, which is where each channel of the loom goes).
