Debating a tele trade

I have had a continuous love/hate relationship with my thinskin AV '55 tele. I decided life is to short for gear that I even hate only some of the time. Listed it for sale/trade last night.
Someone offered me a 2000 '52 AVRI tele for trade. How are these guitars? I feel like I've generally heard good things about AVRI stuff
Looking at reverb the earlier ones like this seem to sell for less than newer ones. I feel like value wise its a fair trade, especially because my tele needs a tone pot replacement, has had the jack replaced with electrosocket, has quite a bit of wear and chipping in the finish (as to be expected with the "think skin"), warped pickguard, obnoxiously sticky neck that I've gone over with scotch brite, etc. (all this bluntly detailed in my listing)/ TBH I have no idea why he wants to do this trade. He also expressed that if I didnt trade he would try and sell his tele and give me the cash asking price
The notion of having some cash is nice, but still having a tele would also be nice. If I liked it

What says GGF?

Maybe your just not a Tele guy. I say cash in and get a different guitar all together. But I love Tele's so what do I know.

Oh I know I'm a tele guy, I just have a funny relationship with this particular tele lol

More of a lateral move IMHO. If you're not bonding with the AV55, the AVRI 52 is not that different. The neck on the 52 is slightly bigger but overall they're in the ballpark of each other.
I know is tempting to get rid if something you don't like, but I'd wait to sell and get a completely different Tele.

I’m starting to get fed up with my actual fenders. Sketchy hardware. Glossy necks. Meh pickups. Bad tuners. Iffy switches. Heavy bodies. Thick finishes. Soft frets. Etc.
Warmoth makes a MUCH better fender.

I love Teles.
I love the look of the 52 AVRI.
I wanted one forever.
I went to buy one on multiple occasions and do not like them. Super thick sticky finish on the neck, and just mid guitars for the most part.

I declined the trade. I have two people trying to sell their guitars to buy from me and a thirdd that said he's probably interested when hes back in town this weekend

Surprised I'm getting this much interest... I kind of roasted the shit out of the guitar in my advertisement and extensively detailed everything wrong with it

I prefer to buy from sellers that are honest so I can see why you're getting interest. Good on ya for being accurate.

Whatever Fender is using to finish their bodies is gross. I tried a road worn Tele last Winter and it felt plasticy and cheap.
My Pittmans have spoiled me.

Tom, look for an old 03-06 Fender Highway 1 Tele. Brilliant guitars and pretty much what you're looking for.

I have 0 complaints about the poly finish on my am. Pro II strat
The chipping nitro on the thinskon isn’t an issue to me, that was one of the selling points for expedited natural relicing. The finish on the neck drives me crazy though.
The guitar plays quite nice actually, baseball bat neck profile isn’t my favorite but it’s fine, and the tone is phenomenal. But I’ve just been fighting so many other elements that I’m just a bit fed up
