Rage in Old Age #2: Dakota/Minnesota Gear Day

So, that guy with the Cordoba? This Cordoba?
He played host for the second time for a little micro gear fest. Just us two and our favorites. I tried to record clips, but apparently my system developed a new fetish for "saying" it's recording, while the audio subsystem actually shits itself without any notice to the user. Ran into the same thing when trying to record clips after I came home, so I know it's the computer. Stupid computers. They'll be the death of me.
At any rate, we cruised the city a bit, ate at a nifty little bar, then played loudly for a couple hours. My DSLs, the Mesa widebody 1x12, his 100w Stealth, Marshall 4x12, a 2x12, a Peavey Vypyr, my boost board (two SD-1s and a Bion), Mimiq for stereo DSLs, his acoustic/electric, Arctic Metal LTD, his custom, my beat to shit JS32T V, and Banshee 8 Passive.
Take-aways of the day:
I miss being able to just crank the shit out of things at home.
That Mesa cab, every time I hear it with a 100 watt head, I wonder about my sanity. Pour some power to it and it just thickens up and gets fatter and meatier.
G12H30 (My DSL20CR #2) + the Mesa cab with volumes dimed and no attenuator is
DBN/VTM can no longer say he's never played through a DSL
DBN/VTM can no longer say he's never played an 8 string
I believe my favorite moment was throwing some Foreigner riffs in between Metallica, Overkill and Anthrax riffs.
Great music day. The neighborhood looked mostly intact as I pulled away for the three hour drive home, in which more music was consumed. Thanks for hosting again, man. Hopefully, life isn't so busy we can't do this again next year.
P.S. Once I set everything back up in my recording room, I managed to lay down one of my favorite tones I've ever managed to get through a mic. Riff invented on the gear day, at volume. Clip coming up in a bit.
