It was glorious. Like, other worldly beautiful. I could get lost in that guitar for weeks on end.

I don't have $3500 to buy one.

I has sad

Perhaps you do, and just don’t know it. What’s the rest of your gear look like?

Not enough for trading half the cost. I purged years ago. Everything I have is staying.

I'm was looking at 0s and 00s for my fingerpicking ways and, nope, not for $2K+. I'm sure I'll be just fine with one of their Mexican-made ones or any other import model. I don't think there's even a Mexican 0 or 00.

I dream of Martins. But it seems like I live budget Yamahas . . . :sigh:

Yeah I love the D35. But I don't play enough acoustic guitar to justify something like that.

I have a Martin 00 Jr here that sounds great. And I have a Yamaha that I like it too. They're not near the level of a D35 but they're at the level of my acoustic playing.

My playing overall has benefited immensely from my 000-18. It's such a sweet playing and sounding guitar that I play it almost exclusively. Yes, it did cost a lot of cash. But it was totally worth it. Not to mention it is infinitely more comfortable than a dreadnought. No more sore right shoulder from hanging out strumming over the body. Plus, it keeps my hands a lot stronger than they were.

Every player would benefit from having one acoustic that they can't put down.

I agree. It goes for any gear really. Having great gear can inspires you to play more and better. No argument there.

The fun thing about a good acoustic, is that when you've played it for a week, the electric feels like a toy. 012 or 013 (even if it's a shorter scale) in standard E gives finger strength. And good riffs are good riffs on an acoustic as well. It can be a nice writing tool :thu:

So true!

I've been regularly cycling through my acoustic guitar, electric guitar, P-bass, and soprano ukulele to stay in shape. Adult ADD for the win!

Y'know, I think I hear acoustic guitar tone better than electric. I don't know why but electrics all kinda sound the same to me.

I have Earthwood Rock And Blues strings on my acoustics and they're 10-52. I've never liked heavy strings on anything, electric or acoustic.

But I love to write riffs on an acoustic guitar. I agree that when a riff sounds good on an acoustic guitar it will sound good on anything. Stripping a song down to an acoustic instrument and voice is the ultimate QC for songwriting.

Similarly, I have never had trouble putting down an accoustic

I'd have to pick up an acoustic to even worry about putting it down

I think I'm going to sell my D-28 Marquis. I never play it. Hell I never play acoustic anymore. Although I should cause that's how I used to write most of my music.

Kinda interesting to me the D35 even exists. Why a three piece back? I've never spent enough time comparing to normal D-28 to really get a feel for the difference.

Back in the 70s' Martin was running out of large enough pieces of Brazillian Rosewood for the 28s'. So they decided to use the smaller ones for a three piece back with different bracing and created a new model with it.

No. It's got a bound neck and is priced a few hundred above the 28.
