Checking out lots of stuff on a lazy Sunday....
Interesting SYNTH studio setup. Because, I don't know much about synths and their supplemental outboard gear, this is of interest to me.

Synth nerdiness is a whole different level. A lot of the differences are quantifiable and a lot less mojo to explain differences.

I get what you're saying, but seeing how much more "involved" pedals and racks become, maybe it's not so bad learning some of the nerdiness. Lord knows I'm cutting teeth with the PolyEffects BeeBo.

External gear has been used pretty much since synths left the modular realm. They intergrade together better as well. By nerdiness I mean with synths there is a laundry list of difference between device A and device B. Unlike certain pedals that are maybe 5% different and the cost fluctuates by 2-300%. The vintage market is just as insane though. 5000 for the model D or the behringer version without the keyboard for $350. The cooler thing is the modulation abilities on synths and their effects. You can do a lot of cool things.

It still doesn't replace the sound of a good guitar rig even if they are one trick ponies in comparison.
