Did anyone ever get a chance to play one of these? They came and went in the blink of an eye. My only interest in them is because James Brown co-designed them and I LOVE his amps. Never seen one in the wild. Has anyone?

I played it when it first came out. It's a killer amp. Seriously fucking good. The AX7 association actually fucked up its reputation, but this amp is a James Brown design and it sounds really good.

You could say it's an upgraded JSX, the features are somewhat similar, but he also incorporated some of those tightness controls he was using on his pedals. And all the channels sound better.

They should reissue it without the AX7 brand attached to it and without the dumb name and graphics.

Do you know anything about the Kustom Double Cross? The 2 amps have a bunch of things in common, at least on the outside. A friend had one for a bit. We had all the Peavey's and the DC was a beast, like the best of all JB's amps rolled into one.

Yeah I agree they're similar. The main difference is the Hellwin had the Amptweaker Tight and noise gate circuits incorporated into it. And the channels were revoiced a bit.

But yeah the DC is a great amp. I'd buy either one of these amps at the right price!!!

I owned a Double Cross for a few years. It was a very cool amp, but I ended up eventually selling it, which I regret. Gear whore regret is real.
