Sweetwater offering free Plek on PRS 594 SE

I have been looking at possibly picking one of these up as a back up since they announced them and the initial reviews were solid. Going to be hard to rest the Sweetwater card with a free Plek upgrade. Just wish it had bigger frets like the DGT's. Jumbo's are pretty much my go to on anything these days.

I couldn't jive with the one I tried out, and I'm not sure a plek would change that :idk:

It's a solid import but compared to s2 or core it mostly just seemed to have looks in common with MIA prs stuff

Personally I'd just spend between $50-200 more on a used S2 592

Thanks for the info. I did see a decent priced S2 over the weekend on FB Marketplace. Have never owned a PRS so not sure what I will think of them anyway. At least with SW, I can return it.

What I should do is drive the 3 hours out to Sweetwater and play a couple. If I find one that works, buy it, have the Plek done, and then they can ship it to me.

If you like any other Cort made stuff, you'd probably be happy with the SE, I'd say the SEs are all pretty much the top of the line as any other top of the line in the import realm

I just like being snobby these days

But yeah S2 stuff feels like a big improvement in my personal opinion. If you make the drive to SW I'd try the SE side by side with an S2 and see for yourself if the diference is noticeable or big enough for you :D

I’m a SE fan and didn’t care for the 594 I played. Couldn’t get on with the neck and this is coming from a guy who loves the wide fat neck on my Starla SE and Santana SE.

I thought Sweetwater did set ups on every new guitar they sell but my last one came with action so high it was borderline unplayable. So much for their 55 point imspection. When my local guy saw it he said there is no way they even touched that guitar. That shook my confidence with Sweetwater a bit. I'll stick with my local luthier. He's expensive but he does impeccable work.

I got the SE 594 Singlecut when they came out. It was deplorable. Fretwork was atrocious, tool marks overly abundant, and fret buzz I could not get rid of. I concluded 2 issues - nut cut too low, and a number of high frets. A new nut and fret level would likely have fixed it, but I was so disgusted, I couldn't send it back fast enough. Absolute garbage.

 true but I wasn't even bringing up core stuff into the equation. But yeah that was a hell of a score

I'm a big fan of the S2 stuff.. and a lot of those models can still be found between $1000-1300

Well, if you didn't like the guitar without a PLEK, you'll like it with one. They literally scan the whole fretboard and frets and get it ridiculous accurate. I have a Charvel Duplantier sig that was $800 new and it plays fucking great with the PLEK.

Side note, sweet water doesn't set up every guitar before it goes out. They check that it works, basically.

PLEK ain't gonna fix an overly thick plasticy poly finish :o

Yeah my S2 Cu24 is definitely a marked improvement over the SEs I have. Helps that I put a MannMade trem on mine and put some good Duncans in it.
