mod'N the old girl, It originally had a B5 so I went for it and put one back on, plastics off, some new black plastics on the way and knobs. I rotated the magnet in the neck p/u 180 for some outta phase toans. Its crazy cool , a million different tones just by rolling the controls a little, this little test track is just one of many variations, the lead is the outta phase in middle position. the rest is the treble p/u. I freaking love the B5 !!!
sounds like

Next part arrived, the spoiler. These things are super cool. It makes stringing one easy and it has a straight pull with improved feel due to the new tension. Its smoother and stays in tune better. Must have for you bigsby guys.

Always wanted Bigsby on a Les Paul. Because it requires drilling into the top I've never had the balls to do it myself, and because it's worried I'd regret it.
It's kinda like a tattoo, you gotta be committed because it's going to be there for awhile and if you don't like it you're stuck with a bad cover up.

You can use a Vibramate and mount the Bigsby without drilling.
In this guitar's case, I think the previous owner had already drilled for it.

It was actually a factory install. Special order most likely

Yeah get a B7 with vibramate. It’s completely reversible with no holes drilled.

How do you know that? Do you have the original documentation? I never heard of Norlin doing custom orders but I guess it's possible that they did some.

Because the stop tail inserts where never installed. That was done years later and incorrect location.

My dad’s LP 50s tribute has a bigsby on a vibramate. Very cool setup
Bigsbys on Les Pauls rule

Hell yeah man. Looks freakin great. I keep debating putting a Bigsby on my SG. Also, the string spoiler is an absolute must if you don’t have a bar with countersunk holes in it.

I really like the look of that. Embarrassed to say that I have never played an LP with one before.

So the real good news for you guys who want to try this is they make a retrofit kit that uses the stud inserts for mounting so no holes need to be added. Mine is different it had the B5 holes already and I couldn’t use the insert holes because they were hand drilled in the wrong location. You want this kit
http://www.vibramate.com/vibramate-v7-lp-install.phpThey also do one for the B5 , typically for SG’s and flat tops but yet again another oddity on mine they used a B5. This can cause a overhang on the tail end. On mine its not bad but when installing you must not crank all the screws down or it will bend the unit and cause issues with how it feels.
