For the last 2 years buying and selling used gear has been nearly impossible. Pawn shops/GC used has also been without much gear. The last 2 months I have made a ton of money doing it and the shops once again have decent used gear. What is the used market like in your area?

I've been getting screaming deals for the past year and a half, but that isn't necessarily the norm

I just spend too much time on craigslist and FB marketplace

There was always used gear on the market here but I think a lot of it was sitting long because of pricing going up and people weren't willing to pay those prices unless it was something pretty special. I am seeing that people are starting to drop their prices. I did notice more people open to trades and that stuff did move a little quicker.
I've also been checking out used Les Paul prices and noticed those seem to be coming down some, I am looking to probably buy a used one in the next couple months.

Bingo. It's coming back to pre-pandemic prices. People that bought gear during the pandemic knew they were paying inflated prices, but many of them are still trying to recoup their money now. It's not going to happen. But if you price your gear correctly, it will sell. No problem.

A lot of dumb prices in the Dallas market and seems most are stating no trades because they need cash.


I sold a few pieces of collectible gear for decent return but those went to specific buyers.

My hunch is that the regular gear vs. collectible/vintage gear is the dividing line. It always has been in it's own way. But I think now, the price spreads will remain bigger than pre-pandemic life. Overall though, prices have settled down quite a bit.

I’ve gotten I don’t know how many too good to be true deals since the start of the pandemic. Yeah, harder to find and highly coveted amps went way up but at least in my area the used market was no where near as bad as the internet made it

The used market around here has always been meh. Mort finds some cool shit specific to his niche, once in a while a Mesa or Marshall or Peavey for kinda "standard" prices. But GC always had the best deals around here. Not so much these days. Their used selection last time I was in was slim pickin's.
