NAD -- Oddball Collectory Type Amp

The price wasn't bad at all and the condition is pretty exceptional so I just had to have it. I don't even know how it sounds yet

When I picked it up he didn't have a guitar (old guy estate junk flipper) but it powered up, didn't hum, and made crackling noises while the volume knob was moving. All good signs. I'll test it proper sometime soon but I don't even care all that much how good it sounds or how well it works. It's cool enough just sitting there

SPEDD!!

 I had the exact same thought. Looks real cool. I dig the green tolex too. What's the story with this thing?

No idea. The only branding marks are "Guitar Amp" and "Oriental". Not a stitch of other information except for on the parts which most don't have any sort of date code. Did find one cap that appears to have a date code of mid 1970. Haven't found a stitch of info about it online except one dude that says he's played one and it was the worst sounding amp he's ever heard  but he might just be screwing around. No telling.

riffraff also comes to mind for weird old stuff like this.

But yeah for the most part I'm sort of an anomaly around here

That's awesome and with a name like Oriental it had to be made in Chin-A...

Talk about flying leads! Oddball is an understatement. Any idea how the 3 jacks work?

Needs a grounded power cord.

Haven’t tried them yet but my assumption is that the other 2 are for footswitches.

I did fix 2 broken wires and was able to do a quick play test. Definitely has some erratic operation but the base tone isn’t horrible, but nothing to write home about either. The decision will be to either leave it as is and just collect it or to do a fairly deep rebuild.
