Reverb is dangerous...

This past week I finally created a Reverb account... and I'm learning just how dangerous that is.
Things I didn't need...
This is why I created the account. I didn't need this. I already have a BDDI V2, but the V1 is said to be more aggressive and when I see a pro rig the V1 is typically what I see, so I wanted to hear the difference for myself.

Then I saw this for a good price.

Then I almost bought a '60s B15N 115 fliptop and 70s SVT and matching flatback 810.
I need to delete this account...
Anyway, if you recently bought shit you didn't need on Reverb feel free to post it here. It's a gear forum, we all like gear.

Check out the PolyEffects Beebo, that's quite the pedal.

Yeah between the app and affirm, I’ve bought a good amount of pedals. With affirm payments, it’s just too easy. I’ve forced myself to stay off after my last impulse buy so I can get some of my recent purchases paid off.
Good thing is a guy at my work is always interested in some of the pedals I buy , so if I decide I don’t want them, I’ll sell it to him for about what I paid.

I hear ya, I almost bought a Ric today ffs. Ok so imo the BDDI’s all sound the same. Its one of the beauties, always consistent. That is a 2nd or 3rd gen V1 you have there. I used a first gen for years. Sometimes only that and nothing else. The 1st gen does not have the line level switch for using into a power amp. The old ones need a little mod to use them. Was just 1 resistor change and Tech 21 was the ones making that mod available back in the day. They updated it which makes it super easy to use into a power amp. At line level. But they sound exactly the same. However the V2’s additional eq make that much more flexible , fantastic pre. The VTDI is also awesome, that has a little less drive. Very amp like and great for just about everything except modern metal. The Darkglass have that. Baked in. Also for aggressive that’s more Marshall like check out OKKO Motorbass.
https://reverb.com/item/15757006-okko-m ... distortionThat is a killer dirt box. I have several other brands too that are awesome as well. Morley , Suncoast , Fulltone, Wayhuge. So back to Tech 21 the 2 that are a little different are the Classic pedal which has a bass switch. Very cool pedal and the original BDDI , before the v1. It has no external controls. It only has a DI out. This was meant to replace a mic and works very well. Like what Geddy used to do with multiple cabinets and crossovers to FOH.
https://reverb.com/item/67433965-tech-2 ... the-driverThe controls are internal.
Tech 21sells directly on reverb as well and does special custom colors now and then. Keep yer eye out
My custom red BDDI V2. Xxx

Oddly enough I have these 2 pedal on my reverb watch list.
I'm thinking about replacing Kimmi's bass FlyRig with these 2 units.
Let me know how you like them

I have the bass driver v2. I like that it has a mids knob (v1 doesnt have) plus you can change what frequency range the mids knob 500hz or 1khz. With that said, i'm not a bass player so don't use it often.

I was looking at an old V1 with only the phantom power switch, but I was a little worried about not having the line/instrument since I want to experiment with this as both a DI and a dirt pedal.
It's good to hear they all sound the same.
I have the VTDI, but don't get a lot of use out of it. I find it sounds "better", but the BDDI sits better in a mix.
I have been looking for a more aggressive sound, but haven't really found anything that's made me think "this is it". I love my regular sound, but my "kick it up a notch" tone isn't where I want it yet.

The BDDI is superior to the FlyRig, largely due to the output options (uneffected parallel out to stage amp, effected line out to power amp, effected DI out to FOH). I also wish the FlyRig had the blend option.
I use the FlyRig when I need portable (takes up less space than a BDDI + TU-2 + dirt), and it gets the job done very well, but I find it limited because they never seemed to consider that someone might plug into a backline amp.
The B7K I'm curious about. I have an Alpha/Omega that sounds great as a distortion, but the B7K is the classic Darkglass sound.

I'm mostly curious about the V1 because Tech21 says dialling the mids to somewhere around 10:00 is the original V1 sound, and I mostly dial the mids back to around 10:00 to keep from stomping all over the guitars.
But... mostly I'm just curious.

I have Behringer's version. Never took it out of the box. Bought it because I've been playing bass, and it was cheap.
When would I use a preamp pedal? My amps have already have a preamp and power amp.

Yeah it works that way. The first gen doesn’t have the +4 line level for driving a power amp.

Maybe we have a newer version of the Fly Rig because ours have the option to disable the speaker sim on the 1/4" and keep it on the XLR.
But t think the BDDI sounds a bit more robust overall and she doesn't need all the options on the FlyRig.
EDIT: I just looked it up our FlyRig is the V2.

I use mine as a DI. It sends a blended clean/dirty sound to FOH that sounds vaguely Ampeg-ish and splits out an unaffected clean signal to my stage amp. That way I can dial in one sound that works for FOH and a different sound that works for me on stage.
My stage amp then gets mic’d and blended with the BDDI, so my FOH tone is a blend of clean DI, overdriven SVT and distorted BDDI.
(I hope that makes sense? I always feel that sounds more confusing than it is.)
(Here’s a pic. The BDDI is sitting on top of my amp.)

Mine's the V1. The V2 missed the mark for me. I think it's probably still great, but it didn't fix the things I don't like about the V1, so I'm stuck hoping the V3 will hit the mark.
