Looking to upgrade my live rig. I usually just go direct. I just use a pedalboard setup.Current rig is a FlyRig & few extra pedals. Liking the features more than the sound(too fizzy on its own) Anyone have experience with the Amplify Firebox 11? Tone x seems to sound good, according to the boss.

Do you mean the Atomic Ampli-Firebox II? I had one of their Amplifire units and it sounded really good. Satchel uses one as his main rig on Steel Panther. That said, I think the company is nearly out of business since there's been no real updates for their devices in quite a long time.
The ToneX is great. I was impressed with it. As far as modeling goes it's hard to beat, especially for the price, but at any price really.

Yep, that's the one. I like that it has an xlr & 1/4" out, like my FlyRig. Xlr to PA & 1/4" to my small power amp & cab, if I can't hear monitors. Neither has a loop, but guess I can work around that

yeah the lack of loop makes the XLRs a bit useless though.
With the ToneX you will need a DI box for XLR outs anyway, so you can just place your effects between the ToneX and DI box.
Obviously you can do that exact same thing with the Ampli-Firebox but then you're not using the built-in DI outs.
It think it's a big oversight for these companies not to have a loop in their units. It's really inexpensive to implement in a device like this and it would make the product much better.

Also, if your FlyRig is the V2 you could try to add an EQ in the loop. I had good results doing that.
Maybe also look into the DSM Simplifier, I thought it was a good unit when I owned it.

Awesome man! The Atomic modeling is great, especially the Marshall and 5150 models. Let us know how you like it. I still want to put together a DI rig at some point

Got my Fire-box. Really sounds good but can't get it to hook up to computer. Trying to find another USB cable. Don't have many of them old styles around.

Did you figure this out? Interested in hearing your thoughts on this pedal

Tried a different cable, still no luck. Takes a USB mini. Have a new one on way. Don't know if it's a computer problem or pedal. The manual is not very clear on some points. Still some great sounds in it

Bummer man hope it works out. You should be able to get some cool tones without the USB though.
Speaking of Amplifire, look at this crackhead

Definitely smoking the good stuff, there! Since mine was used, some of presets may be altered. There are delays & stuff on there that can be added through the software, that I can't change. What I can get out of it does sound really good.

Interesting.

I was not aware of that. The ability to add delay actually makes me consider buying one since delay is the only "post" effect I need.
Time to

There are gates, delays, boost & other stuff available. Right footswitch assignable for a boost, tap tempo or to turn off effects. Left switch does A/ B channel switching or on/ off. All that stuff assigned through the software.
