My wife does a garden every year. It's like therapy for her and she does a great job at it. I'll post some pictures later.

We haven’t had rain for days and none coming our way. City water has too many chemicals and the poor babies don’t like it

We had this issue in Vegas and we installed a Brita filter in the kitchen sink so she could water her garden with tap water. It worked well. The Brita filtered the chemicals out enough for the plants to take the tap water well. There was no other way to have a garden there since we would go months and months with no rain. Here in MD it's not an issue.
But that would be my suggestion.

Pepi - I don't live that far from you and my pepper and tomato plants have no problem lapping up the city water.
Just say maybe - some chemicals aren't so bad

After a 140 dollar water bill and THEN a bunch of rain my garden is turning out great. Neighbors probably thought I looked a bit strange dressed as a warrior doing rain dances in my back yard.
