The Kramer does look great. The logo with the Megadeth font is a bit of a turn off but not a deal breaker.

I kinda like the Epiphone Prophecy too, but the green Kramer is my favorite

Agreed. For me it's the inlays. I'd rather no inlays, but if you must, dots. The other inlays I've seen on his recent ones are . . . how to be delicate, less than appealing to me.

Yeah I agree about the inlays. But I like his Gibson guitar, it looks like the old V XPLs from the 80s.

The Kramer is closer to the Jackson King Vs he used to play. Also super cool.

The green Kramer and dark red burst Epi are pretty cool looking, but damn those prices.

With ya. If you're gonna pay that? Seems there are better options. Like a used Gibby, Jackson USA, or any of the multitude of other Mave sigs over the centuries.

Where the feck you getting a Jackson USA for $1300...I will buy one right now. You CAN get the pro series for a bit less than this, and those are fucking KILLER!! They were a little less than $1k when I bought mine.
I am on the fence with the headstock. I didn't hate it when the Gibsons came out. Then I saw just headstock pics of these and it seemed off. But seeing the whole guitars, I don't hate it. I like the little devil horn inlays or whatever on the other one lol. Dots are too boring. Anyway, I don't hate these guitars, but I am not paying those prices for one.

I think the Epiphone Prophecy Vs (both the Mustaine and the regular model) are some of the best looking Vs currently on the market. But I can't get past the fact it's Epiphone.

You have to really hunt for them, but older ones can sometimes be had in that price range.
I had a pro series that was just over that new. Of course, right at the moment used seem to be going for more than retail. The world makes no sense to me anymore.

I doubt they're very different at all.... his guitars have been consistent from one endorser to the other. They're all some kind of a version of his old Jackson King Vs. Which he would probably be playing to this day if it wasn't for the butthurt (he wanted to buy Jackson abut they sold to Fender instead and he stopped playing them out of spite).

If what I have read is true I dont blame his spite. He had all but inked the deal and they sold to fender and didnt bother telling him. but i agree all of his sigs are the same with some minor changes here any there, he apparanlty knows what he likes to play and it just gets transferred over. I bet when he switches companies he hands them his favorite live guitar and says this is what i want.

Currently Epi is making some great instruments. They still make high end U.S. casinos too. Funny how Gibson owns them both. Btw Gibson is on a mission to win over everyone especially Metalheads.

That's true, but let's be honest, that's not the only time Dave acted out of spite. He does that A LOT
I wish he could bury the hatchet and work a deal with Jackson to reissue his King V complete with the Kahler fixed bridge. That guitar was awesome and my favorite out of all of his sig models.

How legit is the story of Dave trying to buy Jackson? I've been hearing the story for years. There was a time when Megadeth were my favorite band and I was kinda obsessed with Jackson King Vs, especially the Dave Sig models. I had a KV Pro Mustaine Sig, a KV-1, and two KV-4s (the original Japanese made neck thru models) Anyway, I've heard several versions of the story and I'm just curious how we know any of it is true. Has Dave talked about it? Also, if Dave got shutout, why wouldn't he just start his own guitar brand? He would've made a killing! At that time Dave would've had the clout to make it happen.

It's legit. He really wanted to buy it and got really close to it. Grover Jackson talked about it (because he was going to bring Grover back as the main designer).
That was in 2001 so it's hard to find internet references to it. There was an article about it at Harmony Central and in one of the Guitar Player magazines.
Not sure why he didn't start his own brand. Maybe he wanted to be with an established brand.
EVH (unsurprisingly) was the first one to successfully launch a player owned brand, albeit with Fender's help, but that was a few years later (2004). In '01 that idea was still unheard of.
