I have a Pit Boss Navigator pellet smoker. I bought it at my local hardware store's Labor Day sale a few years ago at my
Pros:
*Easier to ignite than charcoal
*Easier to sustain a flame and keep a consistent temperature (especially one with a PID controller)
*Pellets are cheap, easy to blend, and readily available at hardware stores and Sam's Club
*Don't need a water pan
*Fairly easy to clean
Cons:
*Doesn't get quite as strong of smoke flavor as a charcoal or offset smoker (using a pellet tube solves this though)
*The built-in temperature probe isn't as accurate as a standalone one (at least for Pit Boss. I can't speak to Traeger or other brands). On Pit Boss grills, the probe is always exposed to the flame, so the probe reads hotter than the grill actually is. Some guy online sells accessories that help with this.
*I like it as a smoker, but don't like using it as a regular grill. When using it with an open flame, it doesn't disperse heat as well
*Unless you get a model that has a fan that can run without heat, they aren't great for cold smoking. The first time I tried smoking cheese on mine with just a pellet tube and no heat, the smoke flavor was a little ashy and stale. It's because the airflow wasn't sufficient enough, so it couldn't circulate new smoke.
If you don't want to have to babysit a flame, an electric model is perfectly fine. At worst, if you use a pellet tube with it you may need to refill it and reignite it after 3-4 hours. If you plan on spritzing the meat regularly, you may not mind monitoring the temperature on a Green Egg/other charcoal smoker as much.
If you *do* go the pellet route, I recommend Bear Mountain or Kingsford Pellets. Sam's Club sells pellets from a brand called Smokehouse that are good too. These pellets are actually made with the woods these brands claim. Some brands (Traeger and Pit Boss) use cheaper woods and "flavor" them with oil from hickory, mesquite, etc.

I have a Masterbilt electric smoker that was gifted to me and, honestly, no complaints. It does what it is supposed to do and does it well. I was in the market for a smoker when I received it and would likely have bought a pellet/charcoal version - I had never even considered an electric one. I will ultimately get a pellet/charcoal smoker, but I'm in no hurry because the Masterbilt works and I grill, rotisserie and griddle far more than I smoke.

I've had this Cuisinart for a couple years now
https://www.superarbor.io/products/6432 ... ag_organicI like the ease of use, set it to the temp you want and it consistently stays there, you don't have to spend your whole day tending the fire. You just put your food on and you can even use the app with their probs to see what temp the meat is at. You can buy pellets at a lot of different places and they have a lot of different varieties. I'm liking the competition blend, works great with everything I've smoked.
Cons is it doesn't have as intense of a smoky flavor as wood ones, but my wife doesn't like things too smoky anyway. You can get more of an intense flavor with different brands of pellets or using a smoke tube. If you don't keep the hopper dry and it gets wet, I've heard it's a bitch to clean out the auger. I live in Arizona, so moisture isn't such a problem but I keep mine covered under the patio when I'm not using it.

I have a kamado. Once it's lit with good fuel it'll burn for 8 hours easily, which is more than long enough for me as I can't get good marbled brisket easily in the UK and beef short ribs only take 5 hours or so. It is great as a conventional grill and if I blast the vents full tilt it'll get hot enough to cook pizza. Granted an electric one takes a some of fucking around out of the equation, but a little bit of fucking around is half the fun.

I have a big traeger.
Pros:
It does most of the work.
Lots of room inside
Easy to Clean
Nice wheels
Cons:
Big
blasts through pellets
wish it could get hotter for actual grilling.
there are hot spots/cold spots (not a problem if you work around it).

Would be nice if people were not weak coward ass scumbags. The kind that for two years have lacked the balls to own up and state their problems like a fucking adult human with anything resembling courage or human decency
If you feel the need to call people out, do that in your own thread, please. That way, we can still politely discuss the pros/cons of smokers and BBQ implements.
