Been real happy with Mojotone customer service with my Brit800 kit. They took good care of me when the power transformer I received was determined to be bad. Quality of the materials (besides the obvious prob with the transformer) is good. Enjoyed building the kit, and looking forward to updating it to a JMP-style chassis that I purchased later.

Can't speak to that particular amp.

There's a pretty good Mojotone group on Facebook that I've gotten good info from - Mojotone Amp Kit Builders Guild

If you need such a project then by all means. If you want a killer amp and don’t need the project then there are many. Like the Tiny Terror.

this looks like a cool project... but... not sure how it would compare to a JCM since it's more Vox based

Those kits are great if you don't want to source parts yourself. That said, you'll be getting middle-of-the-road quality for most of it.

If you're down to source your own stuff, you have the ability to upgrade board components for a reasonable amount. Transformers are affordable (depending what brand you want to go with, I like Heyboer and Pacific stuff).

The big costs for a build are the filter caps, transformers, and chassis. You can get a custom board built from Hoffman amps, and I can speak to the quality of these.

For a learning project, Mojo is great. So is Ceriatone.

I've been wanting some JCM flavor myself. This JCM25 kit seems as easy as it gets.

They sell a loop also for like $30.

Aaelectronics sell a flexible Marshall PCB that'll do everything from jtm to 2204. That'd be my go to if I was self sourcing.

So this is a 18w? Interesting to hear your thoughts on it. I just bought a PS100 (yes again, #3  ) so a 18w would be an interesting option to use with it.

Finished the wiring and fired it up tonight. I had one wire misplaced (that's what I get for working on this after midnight last night) but otherwise no issues. Voltages look about right. I had it powered on for over an hour, no smoke no smells.

I played around with it at whisper quiet volumes and it sounds pretty damn good.

I should get one of those

Got a recommendation for a decent one? Or a better MV circuit? This is just like my old JCM800s, the volume knob really only adjusts from 75%-100%
