I read this the other day. I’m *near one, like 10 minute drive or so, so I’d imagine it’s far enough, but I have no question that’s just one of many places leeching cancerous chemicals into the air, ground and/or water. One of my earliest jobs after high school and not simply a gas attendant or fast food worker was at a place that applied Teflon coating on all types of shit and while there was safety, as years went by and I learned how that place got shut down because of side effects of their products and then I learned more about the process I was near for those 5 months or so, that wasn’t the best start to my lungs. Lol. Which I then got into sanding and finishing hardwood flooring which about 8 years into that I was diagnosed with a lung disease.

But yeah this Sterigenics got nailed pretty good at the other facility In Illinois. That story of how all the people at the nearby school were having miscarriages and everyone said they knew countless people with cancer that they used to joke about “it must be in the water”.

It's a really fucked up story. I hope you're upwind from Stenigenics.

Long Island has one of the highest breast cancer rates in the country. Lead, mercury, PCBs, dry cleaning fluid, pesticides, you name it, we got it and it's all in our drinking water!!!
Long Island and New Jersey were the toxic dumping grounds for NYC for over 100 years.

Welp, I’m 14 miles downwind from one. I hope that’s far enpugh for it to dissipate or become inert.

I grew up near the Hanford Nuclear Site. My first college job was working for a researcher and even though I rarely went anywhere near the actual waste storage, I had to wear a dosimeter and have it tested regularly. First time I went to be tested the results were inconclusive because of so much ambient radiation in the air that day.

Man, imagine the exposure levels for all the employees of the Sterigenics facilities for all those years.

Still, there are times when steam or irradiation sterilization techniques cannot be utilized or used on materials where they would be ineffective. That's when you need the EtOH.
