One of my buds told me Portnoy already quit this project earlier this week. I hope he's lying, cause I've liked everything I've heard so far.

From what I read, he quit Adrenaline Mob. Which hopefully will in turn inspire them to quit altogether. Russell Allen has a great voice but that band stinks.

Maybe he read that and got confused. I'll hold out hope that's the correct version. Adrenaline Mob didn't do much for me at all.

I think it sounds good overall but the songwriting is very generic and cliche.... "can you make me feel like my mojo is rising"? Seriously? It's like Mr. Big only cheesier, if that's even possible.
Also, the shred-ish parts don't go well with the rest of the song.... so yeah I'm not too impressed. It's ok but I would expect more from guys of this caliber.

Fwiw that vid in the OP is the worst song of the 4 they've put out so far IMO

Great players. Kotzen is a really good singer. OK song. I've already forgotten the hook.
It reminds me of a ton of those "weekend supergroups" that released albums on Magna Carta or Metal Blade in the 1990s and 2000s. A bunch of ultra-talented shredders and prog dudes who did side projects where it feels as though they got together and slapped together an album's worth of material in a week or two, recorded it and sent it out the door. Bozzio Levin Stevens. Liquid Tension Experiment. Pinnick Gales Pridgen. Probably dozens more.
It probably won't make me very popular here, but I'd rather hear a band of moderately talented people who wrote some catchy songs and honed them to greatness. It's why the first two Poison albums are more listenable to me than Native Tongue (relatively speaking) even though Kotzen is a 500x better guitarist than CC DeVille.

This is an awesome CD especially if you are a fan of Richie's solo stuff. If you are not, you will not dig this at all!!

I prefered Native Tongue over any CC Deville Poison album!! Yes, I was not a fan of Poison except for a few songs.

Hey, different strokes.
All it means is you're probably a way better guitar player than I am.

Yep, we all have our own tastes and that is what makes it great. Diversity!!! I highly doubt I am a better guitar player than you, but I have been playing since 1978 or so whatever that is worth!!

One of the better "subgroups" to come out IMHO.

This is the band that originally had John Sykes on guitar and vocals but it fell apart and Sykes was replaced by Kotzen. I think I prefer Sykes to Kotzen.

It's good to know that Poison did three good things for Richie Kotzen:
1) Make him some money
2) Break him into the music biz
3) Prepare him to play with guys who like to hide their baldness under hats

Oh, I forgot all about that! I watched the VH1 Behind The Music and Rikki and Bret were still totally salty about that even like 15 years later, not that I blame them. I guess that's what they get for inviting someone into their band who was a better singer than Bret, better guitarist than CC, and better looking than any of them...
