The voters voted to legalize here a year and some change ago, but we were reassured by our bitch governor that we didn't actually know what we wanted and therefore weren't qualified to make that vote. Therefore, appeals for eternity and we can all go fuck ourselves.

Decriminalized is really all anyone should want, imo. The legal weed is just a massive tax opportunity. I haven’t noticed a crackdown on “illicit” weed yet, but be sure you still can’t sell or buy from an illegal source where I’m at. I get they’ll likely never legalize sale of weed without their grubby hands in it, but to me, weed operates just fine without government involvement. I live in a legal state and have never bothered buying it once. It’s far more expensive. I guess if I had no reliable source it’s good for some, but I’d much rather the war on drugs just ended. I know that seems like it’s a fairy tale to just leave that failed operation behind, but I think it can be done. I think make all drug use decriminalized, but make any crimes committed while high or during a sale a stiffer penalty. It’ll still offer some deterrent and harsh penalty, but most users, especially weed, aren’t being criminals. Even most hard drug users are somewhat functioning addicts. And countless are addicts thru opiates given to them by “doctors”. So for many the healthcare system turned them into a junkie. And then the criminal system locks em up when they do something stupid. Or simply get caught with an amount that’s gonna get jail time. Annnnyway. Lol. Legal weed is just another sham to take your money for sumthin most can already get without paying tax. I forget the actual tax amount on weed here in Illinois, but the state made billions in taxes last year from weed sales. It’s extremely high amount I know that. I think it’s a tiered system based on potency of the product but I’m pretty sure it reaches 25% and that’s on top of the already 12% tax I’m the county I live. So 37% tax for every buck spent on certain products.

Decriminalized use still puts the people selling it in jail, at least here in MD it does, which is ridiculous. I actually have a friend dealing with this BS right now, she sold weed to an undercover cop and she's facing jail time now.. etc.. so no, fuck that. I'd be all for a total decriminalization of all use and sale, but that's not going to happen realistically speaking.


I agree with you about the war on drugs though. Total nonsense. Every drug should be legal. Prostitution, too.

This has happened to some people very close to me.

One of them got bad enough to where their young daughter was getting herself up for school and often didn't even have lunch money and the school would just give cheese sammiches and not a regular lunch. Walking fucking zombies, neglecting their kids but it's completely legal.

Another one was my brother and he took his own life rather than live with it or try to overcome it. It's a quicksand trap. Granted, a person has to *want* help in order to come out of it so it's not 100% on the "doctors"... but those types of drugs put people at a serious disadvantage, depending on their personality and chemistry.

Legal weed was super expensive at first here in Colorado and I continued buying black market for years but that changed over time. Now it’s dirt cheap even with tax. And all the growers I knew worth a shit ended up going legit. It’s cheap, it’s convenient, it’s quality - I’d never dream of dealing with “a guy” ever again here

Knowing which dispensaries to go to is big too, idk if the same is true in other states but there’s basically a dispensary every block here. And there’s still plenty that will take advantage of weed tourists and be trying to charge absurd prices like $60 an eighth (sometimes before tax). But it’s still not that hard to find spots with good product and good prices

Yeah a few places here, an 1/8 after taxes will run $60 but I found some that offer prepack 1/8's for much less, there's also one place that has $99 ounces.
There's one shop by my work that is so overpriced, the inside looks like a mall jewelry store and all the employees wear suits and stuff hahaha. They never run any deals either.

DC is not super expensive either although you can't buy weed in DC. But you can receive a weed gift of up to 1oz. So you go to the weed shop and buy something like a $40 sticker and get a "free" 1/8 as a gift Probably the dumbest fucking law ever written, so it had to be in DC hahaha

yep that's how it works in DC. You cannot sell, trade or barter. It has to be a gift

It's even worse than it seems. Initially the law was that you couldn't sell, but you could grow your own and give out gifts. Then the smoke shops said, "wait what if WE give out pot gifts with the purchase of something else?"... and the legislators went.. "well, there's a loophole we didn't think about. Yep, go for it" and now we have the dumbest weed market in history

Weed should be legal everywhere. It’s pretty much harmless. I know some have tried to call it a gateway drug, but I have smoked a metric fuckton of weed in my life and never had the desire to graduate into opioids, narcotics, or anything else. I’m perfectly happy with some decent stuff and a beaker.
