Very cool!!! Skolnick was a good fit for the band. Huge shoes to fill and he did it really well.

A little confused here. Is that Skolnick in the video? I know Criss died 10/93. Not sure if this was filmed before his death? Either way, performance was stellar. BTW Billy, you haven't aged a bit. Reminds me of Jon in the Video

I am confused. Why isn't Jon Olivia singing this? I was like "No Olivia, no Savatage"; then I see him playing the guitar?

I remember buying a Savatage CD and looking on the back cover and seeing Skolnick and my inner Testament fanboy had a mild aneurism. Testament != Savatage, but there's no arguing he wasn't a damn good fit for them.

Savatage always brought it, no matter the lineup.

Yeah it's Skolnick on lead guitar, Zach Stevens on vocals, Jeff Plate on drums. Then Jon and Johnny from the original lineup.
Same line up for the Handful of Rain album (which is amazing).

I have this whole show on DVD it's called Live in Kawasaki 1994. Worth tracking it down and buying it. Great performance.

Jon was having problems with his vocal cords so he hired Zach to sing and played guitar and keys on this tour.

Hey Billy, thanks for the info about the performing members on the song. I quit following after Edge of Thorns- just didn't feel the same. BTW- DVD was hard to find-- ordered it from here today. Could not find it anywhere else. I guess no case, album art whatever but DNC. heavymetalweb.net

Apologies @Billy. You resemble Stevens. No idea Jon was playing guitar and was happy to see what I thought Jon trimming down and alas, wrong again. Zach Stevens absolutely kicked major ass on this tune. Looking forward to the DVD and will now know whom I am actually watching perform.

Good deal man! You will enjoy this DVD. The entire show is killer.

You should check out the Handful of Rain album with Skolnick. I stopped following after it, but that's a good one.

Anyone who likes Savatage should definitely check out Dr. Butcher. Jon Oliva on vocals, Chris Caffery on guitar. My understanding is that it was sort of a response to people saying "Jon can't do it anymore" after not being a band member for Edge of Thorns.
