Refret

It's been a long time since i did DIY thread. Probably since I frequented HCEG and that was like 4 years ago. Anyway...

I decided that i did not like the SS Jumbo frets and 12" radius i put on my 80's Strat a few years ago. It just no longer felt "Stratty", so i'm putting medium-highs (which i typically knock down just a touch and i love them that way) on and re-radiusing back to 9.5"

removing the SS frets.

re-radius.

Next steps are to finish the board (just going to use Tru-oil for this) and re-fret tomorrow.

I use some water based dyes that i got from LMII many many years ago. I had to use an amber and then go over it with a yellow. it's not perfect, but damn close.

I actually like SS frets, i'm just not jiving with the jumbos on this particular guitar. I have some SS medium floating around i may use, but I'll probably make life easier on myself and just use the standard fret material. SS takes a little longer because of how hard it is,

What do you want for the jumbos? (I've got a project neck, that needs refretting) :D

honestly, once you rip the old frets out, they are useless and all bent up. fret wire is pretty cheap
