So how many of you DO NOT use effects?

I have a small pedalboard that just sits in the case collecting dust. I honestly have no reason to use it.

Anybody else do not use a pedals?

not use a pedals?

Kidding I am the worst at typo's

I am guessing because the is the FX sub forum every one here uses at least one effect.
I have always used FX though even if it's and overdrive and a wah.

I plug straight into my practice amp in my room without any pedals. I couldn't live without pedals though, and I'm really enjoying my board at the moment.

I could do without delay, mods, reverbs and things of that nature sure... but I love dirt pedals...Overdrives, Distortions, fuzzes... they are my weakness.... and I agree with Neil.. a wah just to add a little something special when needed... that being said... in a perfect world I do love effects... I just think they should be used sparingly.

I've noticed that has my gear has gotten nicer I've relied on pedals less. Pedals were the first thing I really started messing around with too, so in the beginning my board was huge, but over time I've trimmed down to what I "need"

when i got the mak4 i wasnt using effects for a while while i got familiar with it, even at gigs.

now i use a gsp1101 and have dove back into the effects world. but i like setting up patches so i dont have more than one button to hit for a change. keeps it simple.

Just over a year ago I sold most of my pedalboard to buy my IRT60H. I still kept one or two pedals though. The number is back up to abotu 18/19 pedals? 12 on the board.

I just couldn't do it. I mean, I could, But the whole way I play involves having some extra power available on command at my feet. And especially in a single guitar band, delay frees you up so much to play what you want to without the result sounding empty. And being able to reliably tune on stage is pretty damn useful, too.

I think at the absolute least I would need a tuner, an overdrive and a delay with tap tempo, into a two channel amp.

As it stands, I only use the bare minimum that lets me play the songs my band performs live. The bare minimum in my case is probably a shameful amount.

Midrangy overdrive for boosting amp
Distortion for more dirty, nasty sounding riffs
Full range overdrive for use on clean channel without sounding boxy
Analogue delay for the ambient, washed out stuff
Pitch shifting for chimey octave up and huge octave down riffs
Digital delay w/tap tempo for rhythmic stuff
Clean boost for solos

Seriously, take all that away and you might as well give me a triangle, shaker and kazoo with which to contribute.

I'd certainly find it difficult in a band or recording situation without having any pedals. I love pedals too much! But I have a little Kustom amp in the bedroom that sounds great, and I just use that on clean or dirty.

depends what amp I am playing through at the moment.
If I am playing my 5 watt Penn - almost never pedals.
It has a nice master volume and dual gains to let me dial in any sound I want for noodling around.

If I am playing my JTM45 - then ALWAYS pedals.
No MV, so if you want any overdrive, your gonna need a pedal (at livable volumes).
Since it's basically a clean amp, delays and reverbs sound great through it too.

I use an SD 1 with my 2203... Ive been playing my wizard modern classic pretty much all the time now, no effects loop, so I just plug straight in. Would love to have a little delay every now and then but I cant without the loop so my dd 3 just sits around.
