Now, I know some of you guys live in places where there's a lot of space between you and your neighbors. But I live in the suburbs, on a block, and though we're not closely packed like in apartments, we're still somewhat within hearing and smelling distance from each other.

But there are these people who just f'n rev their engines/motors for no reason. It's not like they're warming up their engine. They never leave. And it's not like it's a nice sounding performance engine either.

I get it if you're about to leave, but revving your shit over an hour duration only to turn it off and go back inside? Last week, the dude who lives down the street did just that! WTH?

And now, someone is going berserk. This one's a loud, high-revving engine of some sort - maybe a loud rice rocket - I dunno, could be a car as it is not as high pitched.

What's the psychology behind this?

Had a dude do that with an old pickup he couldn't keep running at idle for like three straight days trying to get it figured out. He never did and eventually had to take it to an actual mechanic. Like, I could have told you that an hour into your lunacy. Knock it off.

probably people who aren't driving regularly due to the CoViD - so they start their cars randomly, and rev them to get the alternator to put out enough juice to keep their battery charged.

You could tell them that - 1.) - revving your engine with no load is one of the worst things you can do to it, and 2.) - trying to charge a battery with your alternator can damage it - alternators are not designed to put out that kind of current for that amount of time.

They should buy a battery tender if they are not going to drive their car.
And if it does get drained - recharge it with a proper battery charger - you can take if to Pep Boys and get it charged for free.
Much better for the battery, their alternator, and their engine.

I have neighbors that have landscapers show up at fucking 7AM - ON MY DAY OFF - to mow their fucking lawn and blow their fucking leaves into the street!!!

That's illegal ^^^ , so is making excessive noise , past 90 dB .

yes almost everywhere sound ordinances been on the books forever , look it up . Call the cops , now if like California don't expect a cop to show up when you do call .

Well, here in Montgomery County, PA - you can start at 7AM - which is more what I was talking about.
I would imagine that a licensed landscaper in Ajax's neighborhood would know when they can start work.

Yeah my neighbor here works on his cars all the time, which includes some engine revving occasionally. As long as it is not super early in the morning or late at night (which he never does) I am fine with it. I play loud guitar and he doesn't complain either. It's all good.

Shitty neighbors are shitty! That said, if my street were to take a vote, I'd most likely be the one leaving the island.
