So Sad...
We dropped Sir Elliott off on Sunday afternoon for a week of "Stay & Train". The GF started crying before we left the house and sniffled the entire way there. It's the same place we took him for puppy training. They absolutely love him and he loves them. It couldn't be a better situation but, damn, it's been less than two days and I miss that big pain in the ass. Like, seriously, miss him
. Fuck me. I'm a dog person...

We did that with our spastic golden retriever, back when she would happily plow down anyone and anything that dared go into our back yard. It was a PITA for me, and a major danger to our (then) young boys, who were barely taller than her. It took 3 weeks to for them to train that out of her and get some basic discipline in place, and it turned out to be the best thing we could have done.

He's a great dog, but he's F'n massive. And stupidly (epic) strong. If he can get traction, I defy anyone to win the "rope" game. He would beat John Cena's ass in a heartbeat. Hefty, hefty my ass LOL. We have all of the generic commands in place, but my GF's mom is 91 - we can't have him jumping with excitement when people come to the house. He also has a penchant for chewing toys and God help you if you take them away. We've had a couple of "Come to Jesus" moments on that topic. He doesn't give.. Regardless, I miss him. I'm a generally heartless individual, but I could easily shed a tear on this topic.

Fuck you. Shut up.

How did the week go? He learn anything? I have a Russian Shepard that is a runt for his breed at 155 and he is a handful. Just due to weight, not behavior or anything else. In fact, he was raised around a couple small kids and is pretty gentle. If he doesn't want to go somewhere, he just sits his big fat butt down and you cannot move him. Sometimes he actually looks like a feral hog with a dogs head pasted on he is so low to the ground, lol.

LOL - feral hog
The week went well and he definitely has a better grasp of the commands. Getting him to "leave it" (drop whatever he's doing...) was a struggle, but he's noticeably better. The reality is that he's just a gigantic puppy. It's easy to think that he should have it all figured out because his size implies that he's older. The trainer said it best - "his brain is somewhere between terrible two's and rebellious teenager". Overall, he's really great. We just need to work through a couple of things to ensure that we can count on him to behave. I signed him up for another 4 days of Stay & Train the last week of the month. We'll probably follow that up with some one-on-one classes just to keep him engaged. He loves the interaction with the trainer and you can almost see the gears turning inside his head when he focuses on a task...

haha same....
Good to hear Elliot is doing well with his training.... we never sent our doggo fro official training, but he learnt real quick, sit, stay, heel, etc helped that he's quite clever and pretty chill most of the time..

Vet appointment yesterday... The vet said he was a "perfect physical specimen"
He'll be 10 months old next week and he clocked in at 111 pounds. If I had to guess, it's 85 pounds of muscle, his noggin weighs 20 pounds and the rest is his ballz

He's big, but he doesn't look excessively large. Probably because he's muscular and super-fit.
He damn sure feels large when he runs into you

man at 10 months old and hitting 111 lbs.... when he's fully grown he's gonna be a pretty large.... also wouldn't want to be run in to by him lol... my dog is about 80lbs and he'd easily knock me on my ass when he's in one of his super playful moods if I'm not careful....

Man, a fella that big must require some serious attention to poop management.

In goes the good food, out goes the bad food. Summertime poop pickup is not a desirable job
