Anyone else into racing at all? Road racing, drag racing, dirt tracks, ice racing, autocross, bikes, hell anything like that?
I do a small amount of road-course solo sprint stuff up here in my civic, super fun. Closest equivalent for the US would be similar to SCCA time attack.
I can't be the only one!

My old man had a ~90hp Yamaha Raptor ice racing quad for a while. Didn't get to run an actual race, but I put in a bunch of laps with it. Pretty fun stuff.
I always wanted to get down to the track with my gixxer, but it's closed now. The city mothballed the whole thing to chop off one corner of the track for an offramp last year

There's still a mini track for go karts/mini bikes - I think that's going away too though. Definitely thought about getting a little YSR80 or something to zip around there on haha. Then I'd have to buy a truck too though...

oh yeah, i always wanted to run at Race City (I'm assuming that's the track you were talking about) but got into the sport too late. Sucks, cause it's the same sanctioning body and everything, my license would've carried over!

Yeah, that's the one. I got to do a parade lap on the last day of races, but never got my shit together well enough to actually run some real laps. I got my old man a session with the Allen Berg open wheel cars one year for father's day, but that was kinda lame too... they had a pace driver that was going slow as molasses around the south end of the track. It was probably prudent, there were some really green folks there for that haha.
I've heard some interesting proposals for a new track or maybe even tracks, plural, here so we'll see how it goes. Probably just need the right investor - there's enough money floating around in this city for them to build something pretty nice.

Still counts! Do you have any pictures or vid's worth sharing?
And Harv that's awesome! I've heard some rumors, (trust me, western canada road racing is a small community) but nothing set in stone yet. If it happens BELIEVE me I'll be there!

I love dirt track racing. Late Models, Crate Late Models, Modifieds, & Street Stocks. I usually go every weekend, weather permitting.
Like Drag racing as well. We have a new Drag strip that they just put in at the old air port that's next to our dirt track.
I used to street race, and I used to race Go Karts many moons ago.

I enjoy drag racing, but not funny car or rail stuff. I like seeing real, streetable cars on the strip. It's just more interesting that way, IMO

Word.

As far as drag racing, If it cant run on the street, Im not interested.
A buddy of mine had the fastest street car in town . He'd have guys who'd whine & say his car wasnt a street car. He'd fill the gas tank up & drive them around forever to prove it. He'd beat cars that people brought out on trailers lol. Had a 86 Iroc with a 502 in it. He was "king of the streets" for a long time.

sick. That's what I'm talking about.

I also secretly enjoy seeing Hondas and Nissans blow the doors off the mid-life crisis guys in the corvette.

Man, those turbo'd nissans really fly when they're done right.
