Wood primer for guitar

What would be a good spray can primer?
I've seen some Duplicolor automotive primer at a local hardware store, but they have a lot of selection (steps) to choose from. I'll be sanding my body with and 800 grit sandpaper after filling the grain with wood filler. Don't know if I only need just one of the primer steps. Also, I've seen a Tamiya surface primer at a hobby shop which is designed for metal and plastic, don't know if it could be used for wood.
I've just flattened my slab, so there's time for me to learn and gain advice before the finishing stage.
P.S: I'm building a Jaguar body in Daphne blue, using Meranti wood.
