What mod might this be?
This is from my 67 Fender Princeton reverb. I had it refurbished over 10 years ago and I don't recall them saying they had made a modification yet I'm puzzled by that bundle of capacitors. I'm not even sure where it's wired to. The amp sounds fantastic. And it's for sale but I have to put pictures up and would like to have an answer if somebody asks me about that

I read somewhere, that they stopped making a certain capacitor, that were used in old Fenders, so you have to bundle a few caps together as as substitute.
Can't remember what the value was but, I'll check around.
It's also possible that, the repairman didn't have the right cap lying around so, he used what he had.
There are some very knowledgeable amp mechanics on GAB. One of them will chime in. I've only been studying amp repair for a few years, part time.

Is the can cap still mounted on the chassis? It should be mounted directly above (actually hanging below) that bundle of caps in question.

I found that bundle capacitors was right underneath the esr cap. Just like you said.
Most likely the ESR cap didn't test good and old ESR caps are hard to find so it was replaced buy those 4 capacitors.
