Had several varieties of Shōchū but, never heard of Awamori until this very moment.
Sounds like something I'd like to try but, then again, I'll drink anything you put in front of me.

Sake is fermented like wine. Awamori is distilled like whisky. Typically 90 proof vs ~30 with sake. Hardly ever causes a hangover

Just found a website that may sell it: http://www.sakehouseusa.com/

They have a category called, "Shochu, Soju & Awamori" with 30 choices but, I'll have to click on each to find the Awamori... if they have it, I will buy a bottle! :thu:

FOUND A BOTTLE!!! WOOO HOOO!!! http://www.sakehouseusa.com/cgi-bin/htm ... 1221212075

I definitely need to check out the rice spirits, as sake is basically high-test rice beer.

But, I'm a beer man tonight. First, a 750 of some limited beer from Fulton, a good brewery in MPLS, and then a comically oversized can from München, a 2016 Paulaner Oktoberfest. I bought it, because it came with a mug. It was old when I bought it last week, but it isn't any more toxic than Kraut brew usually is.

I bought a bottle of Cachaça, which will go into my Caipirinha, at a liquor store that reminds me of Wal-Mart: large, expansive, and rather sterile. They have good Scotch, though.

Most of the locals eiter drink it on the rock or a 60/40 mix with 60% awamori and 40 water. Those don't look at strong so I'd start on the rocks, but dont be afraid to add some water, it actual watches well. The really good stuff is sold in clay pot and continues to age, longer the better.

You can do it man!! If you try scotch again, try something from Islay. I like laphroig, lagavulan, ardbeg.
1st taste, take a small sip and hold it in your moth for a few seconds before swallowing. 2nd drink same with a bigger sip.

For a blend, Monkey Shoulder is pretty darn good. Has a bit of a bite, though. It's my "Go To" when I don't want to spend the $40 for Aberfeldy 12...

Dalmore was the best, Hyde was alright but I'd prefer redbreast for the price, apparently islay scotch is known for its smokey flavor which is what highland park is based off of, they just don't do it very well, the ardbeg on the other hand was nice, he smokey flavor was more refined , everyone here agreed it was one of the best. Monkey shoulder was surprisingly good, I might have to keep some around. The stranahan was disappointing, not bad but no better than a 25 dollar bottle of jameson. Now I really want to try the 15 year dalmor and ardbeg

After a two year break from the stuff, Budweiser. It's not as bad as I remember. Not as smelly and sugary.
