Haven't used a headphone amp in years. Looking for something that will let me play along with an mp-3 player. Also, how about playing through the computer?
What's everyone using?

If you have an iphone or ipad, jamup pro is really good, and not noisy at all with an interface with the 30pin connector. i use it all the time for practice and late night playing, it allows you to play along to songs and you can slow them down as well.
As for the pc, I used amplitube 3 with a line6 interface for a few weeks, and while it is definitely versatile and sounds good, it was too much of a hassle for me to set everything up and turm on the pc every time i wanted to play guitar. Stand- alone headphone amps or apps are much more convenient IMO

I just got a Schitt Audio Magni. Seems pretty awesome for the price but it isn't really portable if you need that.

I got one of those for Christmas a
"Long long long" time ago.
The stereo chorus sounded awesome through the headphones, but the overdrive sounded like total shit.
I bought one of these 6 or 7 years ago and it is pretty awesome for what it is and $99.
Holy shit, that came out big!

No idea what your specific needs are, but the Native Instruments Audio 2 comes with Traktor (DJ software) for free, and gives you two stereo outs with ABUSIVELY loud headphone drivers. I bought mine as an upgrade over the headphone outs in my Mac Pro and MacBook Pro, and it's totally stunning. The hardware alone for $100 is a steal, but the fact that you get $70 worth of software free with it is just foolish.
And I don't care how hardcore a musician you consider yourself, once you see the beat-matching capabilities, I defy you NOT to play with the software a little bit!
No audio ins, but the outs are worth at way more than what they charge for it!

Korg Pandora series are also good choices.

Wow, I fogot about those old Rockman units. I love that Boston tone and always wanted to get some Rockman stuff. Unfortunately, I was beyond broke when that stuff was out. By the time I was less broke, Scholz had sold the company. Maybe I'll pick up one soon. I know Dunlop owns Rockman now and I've heard they aren't great, but I might do it anyway.
In the mean time, I went through my gear closet and it turns out I have a couple of things to get me by for a little while. There was a Tascam something or other that is a headphone amp and CD player. There was also a Line 6 POD 2 in there. Nothing great, but it will hold me over for a day or two.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be checking them out. Any more suggestions?
