he's checking with police and making an effort to try to find the owner. I'm sure most other people wouldn't have done that.

From what I read, dude's trying to find the owner.
Personally, I'd try to find out who owned it. I'm guessing angry wife or angry girlfriend pitched a cheating spouse / boyfriends stuff. If I could come up with an owner within a month or so, I'd keep it.

A buddy of mine (who has a problem keeping his dick in his pants) came home one day & saw his ESP Lynch guitar sticking up out of the mud by its head stock in the rain..then a purple 100 watt plexi head come flying out the front door..then his pedal board... IN THE GODDAMN RAIN!
